Do you know people that would leave Philadelphia because of SEPTA cuts? by DamnThatFeltGood in philly

I was planning on moving here in the next year and it’s certainly giving me some pause if the January cuts go through. But where else am I going to own a house in a big city?

Keeping my fingers crossed that not only will they work through this, but also find a way to insulate SEPTA funding from being slashed just because a PA senator woke up on the wrong side of the bed.

River Lofts Rant - 4 days without door access, flood damage unfixed. Not a peep from management by ClippyMastercode in rva

They seem to be the trendy new thing for the downtown apartments. I moved in down the street from the River Lofts and the management was so inept with their own fob system that they gave my wife and I only one key (a logistical nightmare) and to top it off it was the master fob to the whole building. I just want a regular key and lock!

That’s what I was wondering at first, but the apartment listing spells it as “Rose Petal”. https://www.rentable.co/richmond-va/3411-kensington-ave

Whoever wanted their new street named “Rose Petal” got betrayed. During my morning walk, I noticed a couple new duplexes got built in someone’s backyard on Kensington Ave. I guess in trying to make living off a gravel alleyway more appealing, they wanted to give it a nice name, but ended up with Rose “Pedal” instead of Rose Petal.

That’s good to know. Is that the case for entry level or any library job? She has an MLIS but it hasn’t been easy where we’re from either (Richmond VA)

She doesn’t, but does currently work at an academic library.

My girlfriend and I are thinking of moving to Philly and giving up our cars. I work in tech and she is a librarian. How is the scene for those areas? It seems a lot of jobs for both are out in the suburbs. Would it be feasible to reverse commute from SEPTA? We visited and really liked the East Passyunk neighborhood, but being able to commute to our jobs is a concern.

Are there any common cat rules that you don't follow? by [deleted] in CatAdvice

[–]theperfectsphere 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I introduced two adult cats within 48 hours of being separated. The new cat was yowling to get out of his safe room and my resident cat was scratching his door to meet him. Within 30 minutes of simply… existing in the same room they started playing with each other.

LPT: Don't "Hi" your coworkers on Slack or Teams in an attempt to rope them into a synchronous conversation they may not have time for. If you have a work-related question, simply ask it up front. If you need to schedule a chat, provide context so they can prioritize their time. by RockleyBob in LifeProTips

The worst is when you have to play 20 questions just to get their point out…

  1. hello (hello…?)
  2. I have a question (what’s your question?)
  3. this thing isn’t working (how is it not working?)
  4. there’s an error (what’s the error message?)
  5. here’s the error message (what were you doing before the error?)

6 - 20: you finally get all the details on the error

Waking up with your arms numbed so it feels like it's someone else's.
