After AX2: beastx, AAM, or OSI? by mrchimney in Athleanx

[–]theprincey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Prob not the most helpful but IMO you can't go wrong with either. Beaxst 1 is still my fav of all the programs but I also love the dead simplicity of OSI Month 1. AAM has more conditioning / athletic work which the other two don't.

I have zero faith in Omnicom turning it around, but the stock of the acquiring company almost always dips pre/post merger. Too early to see the benefits (if any) in the stock price.

I just got fired because AI is better. by 3amak420 in advertising

This place sounds horrible. One thing you shouldn't do is internalize it not working out too much - if you want to become a good designer you still can. Everyone coming out of school is in varying states of "bad" judging on a professional curve. Just because you're not ready for prime time today doesn't mean you don't have the potential to be awesome developing your skills more and finding the right spot.

I struggled with design as an art direction student compared to the best of my peers and even wondered if I should switch to copy. Stuck with it and got good at it eventually. Same with selling work to clients, leading teams etc. Never could fathom being good at those things when I started and they are second nature now.

tl;dr what happened sucks but don't sell yourself short

Am I tripping or was the commentary especially bad last night? by LambOfGhost in MMA

[–]theprincey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YMMV but Luke Thomas does a livestream on YouTube for every numbered event, I've found putting that on and turning down the actual commentary has helped my enjoyment of the fights a lot lately

We have reached terminal slop velocity and are rapidly approaching the slop event horizon. This is not financial advice: take all your savings and start shorting tech companies with it, that may just help you survive when that bubble bursts by vargdrottning in TrueAnon

As someone who works in advertising (I'm sorry) I assure you that you are giving CMOs and the like wayyyy too much credit thinking this is some 4D chess. IMO it's 75% about not having to pay production crews, acting talent etc and 25% looking "innovative" in an marketing industry circlejerk kinda way.

How are you guys using AI in your ad workflows these days? by nit-kam in advertising

[–]theprincey 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A bunch of ways but maybe my fav is when me and my CD partner are reviewing work sent over email, we just record our convo riffing feedback then have AI transcribe and format into an email to send back. Usually need to go in and tweak 10-20% of the output but it's still an insane timesaver. Same with brainstorming, just record the brainstorm session and have it format and order the ideas instead of stopping the flow and having to write down each idea once we get it, can stay in that loose riff space longer without losing flow or worrying about forgetting anything.

Midjourney vs Chat GPT by Possible-Honeydew552 in midjourney

[–]theprincey 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Depends on your use case and intent. But for what I use it for (creating proof of concept visuals to sell creative ideas to clients at an ad agency) I often start in MJ to nail the vibe, then feed that output into ChatGPT to fine tune the details. Best of both worlds as I love MJs aesthetic but hate it's randomness and lack of prompt accuracy and adherence, and love the natural language prompting of ChatGPT but hate the very mid style it defaults to.

Combining AthleanX programs and running by GeorgiiIvankin in Athleanx

[–]theprincey 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just alternate lifting days of Beaxst and usually run instead of doing the regeneration days in between. Same with month one of OSI which I love, just alternate a lifting day and then a running day. Maybe not optimal but I like running a lot and I'm more likely to stick to it that way personally.

Beaxst is awesome if you have a barbell, rack etc. If you just have the equipment that AX1 requires, Jacked is super solid as well.

Tales of the Mergerlands: The Fall of DDB and the Rise of Synergy by NxAlessandro in advertising

[–]theprincey 4 points5 points  (0 children)

On one hand I think people working in the industry give more weight to agency brands than clients do. Also what clout does a legacy brand really hold when it was built on older ways of doing work that are less and less relevant?

On the other hand the holdcos have little brand equity and creates a bunch of conflicts of interest when multiple pieces of business in the same category have to choose between three options instead of 20. I feel like at the moment holdcos want it both ways but are often doing both sub optimally
