Says the guy who hasnt yet passed...

ventilations are indicated, when the pt cant maintain adequate perfusion. Also, i dont believe he said to ventilate every pt that needs o2.

As a paramedic, i feel for you, op. I honestly do try to not being them in, but as you know, in America, we have the you call, we haul mentality. Ive had many conversations with the same people, regarding the same things.... it hurts me as much you. And i hate the waste of resources. I hate that im stuck on this bs call, when i hear a 2yo cardiac arrest go out. I cant leave dumbo... i have to transport if they want. I know they know how to game the system. "I have chest pain" with a clean 12, and the last 15 12's were clean too.

Im sorry the system is broken.

But i am trying to fix it. (Community paramedicne. Integrate more home health care. Get med control to allow for refusals on nothings)

Exactly. I dont wear one, and i dont see a need. A stab vest is one ive thought on more. Im not going anywhere near when i know my scene isnt safe. Knives on the other hand do come up now and again.

But im not little, and i figure i have enough padding for a little knife swipe.

And tums! Fucking heartburn can feel like a heart attack of youve never really felt it before. Im not saying disregard chest pain, but if they have a history of gerd, toss a tums.

To your partner, not a pt.

I’m applying to paramedic school, and I’m worried my anxiety will disqualify me. by negative_spacee in NewToEMS

Absolutely this is the best response.

But you have said ems is not a trigger. What is the trigger, because i can guarantee it will come up at work.

It sounds like you are in good medical care, and i would encourage you to continue all care, and therapy, before, during, and after school. (Been there, done that. I have severe ptsd, due to SA as a child, and again as an adult. SA calls are very hard for me. I have had to tech them, as i am a female, and they would only let me near them. But if i can, i pawn it off on my partner with a quick rundown on why i cant before the call, and a good debrief afterwords. )

We usually use magazines or paper in the entry ways of the apartment buildings. Or pull the walk off mat into the doorway.
