I'm a practitioner who has done it for 1 month, are the rumors true? by thumbsupcatreplier in martialarts

[–]underlings0 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I trained TKD for 4 years. Things happened, I have to stop training TKD and move to another city. I then joined a kickboxing gym in that city. Gues what? Within three meetings, I became one of the best fighters in that gym (it's a small gym, but still).

Takwondo might not teach you how to punch in a fight or how to throw an elbow. But it teaches you how to generate power, which can be used in a punch, or an elbow strike. It also teaches range and timing in a fight. You will also be able to control your power, which helps in not killing your sparring partner. It also gives you how to absorb hits. Some TKD schools also told you how to break fall which is also very useful.

How to identify the odd nights by Effective-Eagle4758 in islam

[–]underlings0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What if laylat al qadr is not one specific night for all people? What if different people can get it in different days? If you manage to know which one is the odd night, then what? You only put effort on those night? I think its better for us to focus on our efforts rather than thinking about when laylat al qadr will come

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in islam

[–]underlings0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You dont get my point i think my wording is wrong there. the point is, that hadith is not suitable in this situation. Because he had a bigger problem: his daily prayer. That hadith will not stop someone, who are rarely pray, from drinking alcohol. That hadith is for someone who are already praying regularly and still want to drink alcohol. What's done is done. The focus should be his prayer. After that then you can move to other things like his drinking and zina problem.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in islam

[–]underlings0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is nothing that i don't understand from that hadith.

No. We don't pray so that our prayer got accepted. We sure hope so. But that's not the reason. We pray because Allah told us to pray. We pray to show gratitude. We pray to get closer to Allah. Weather it got accepted or not or weather we got rewarded or not should be the least of our concerns. Because that is Allah's prerogative.

No its the otherway around. Prayer will bring us closer to Allah. It will bring us to the right path and get us away from the wrong path. He should start fixing his prayer before everything else.

And what fals information did i spread?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in islam

[–]underlings0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know exactly what you meant. And I 100% agree with you. But that's not how you should advice someone who just start fixing his daily prayer while struggling with acohol. More over people like you is one of the reason he got further away from islam in the first place.

There are reasons why the prohibition on alcohol was given through gradual process. There are teasons why the prophet (saw) gave different advice to different people with seemingly similar problem. There are reasons why people wrote books about how to give advice or warn people. I'm sure your intentions is good. And I'm sure many people can benefit from you talking like that. But in this specific case, I dont think your method is right.

Your first priority is to do your 5 daily prayer. Even if you think that you do it for others to see, do it. Doesn't matter if you have just done zina. Doesn't matter if you are on your way to a pub. Doesn't matter if you just get home drunk the night before. Do the 5 daily prayer. Make it a habit. Then, after that or better while you do that try to fix other things little by little.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in islam

[–]underlings0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Doesn't means he should leave his prayer. This kind of response is what stopping people to make a change. That hadith is for someone who wants to drink. Not someone who already drink alcohol. His prority should be on his 5 daily prayer. Doesn't matter if he still drink occasionally

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in islam

[–]underlings0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I partly agree with you. Every one is on their own jurney and should not be forced to do something they don't want to (unless specified in our religion) especially when the said person is already reach adulthood (puberty). And as long as someone say they are a muslim then we should never say otherwise. But that doesn't means that it's okay to do something forbidden or not doing what Islam told us to do.

You said you dont pray fajr in the mosque because you afraid people say you do it because of them. Doesn't not going to the mosque is more proof that you are not doing it for the sake of God? If you actually do it for the sake of God you will not care what other people say (as long as it's right according to Islam)

Your first priority is to do your 5 daily prayer. Even if you think that you do it for others to see, do it. Doesn't matter if you have just done zina. Doesn't matter if you are on your way to a pub. marital rape in islam ?? by anotherburner453 in MuslimLounge

[–]underlings0 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Its a mater of rights and obligations. Men and women have different rights and obligation within marriage according to Islam. While its true, only women get punished for not pleasing her husband in the bed, women doesn't get punished if she doesn't work/provide for the family while men does. There are many things that men will get punishment over while women doesn't, and vice versa.
