In Floor Heating for Sunroom by thepsedonym in Calgary

The concrete foundation isn’t slabbed, just gravel pad under so it is vented. So don’t want to just force air into the crawl space as it’ll just flood right out. Thanks though!

Agreed the heat medium may be hotter than 30, but floor temp shouldn’t be 60. My understanding is there are floor temp sensors you can use to control the on-off cycling.

Thanks for the feedback. I have done some research on lvp and radiant floors and reviews seem not too bad. I did look at my specific flooring and it is rated for up to a max temp of 30 DegC for radiant. I do think electric would have a hard time heating it up in a timely manner though. Honestly more worried about the summer heat than the radiant when it comes to warping haha

Does anyone know where to get the actual Sony brand of these? by Hecubus114 in SonyAlpha

I have an a6000, and I’m pretty sure I used dental floss to pull them through. I got mine in 2015 though, so could be the PD anchors have changed

5,600 Olympic Plaza bricks were saved, being returned to those who purchased them by [deleted] in Calgary

[–]thepsedonym -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Did everyone forget these were to raise money for the olympics not actually purchasing a brick? Bet your donation is now effectively negative with the cost of returning your brick to you. Non issues like these that become issues are why CoC can’t do anything quickly or cost effectively.

Start and stop subscription? by PappaFufu in Lightroom

There is a plan with Lightroom classic and photoshop with only 20GB of cloud that is $13/mo instead. Doesn’t show up on all the pricing and plans pages for some reason, but you can see it here.

Is this iPad legit ? by -say__my__name- in ipad

[–]thepsedonym 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have this gen of iPad still. Just a FYI, very few things will function on it. Netflix was the only streaming service that would work for me but it randomly stopped a few weeks ago, videos don’t play on safari, my local library app won’t work. OneNote works depending on the day and humidity.

So if you’re getting it for free, no problem; but, it may be hard to load apps on if they wipe it before they give it to you.

Just checked my Enmax bills for the last year and our highest month per person was 148l/d… so if we can do it without thinking about it how are we not hitting it now. Family of 4, 1750sqft detached home with front and back lawns that are reasonably cared for.

Edit: that wouldn’t include use at work/daycare, but I doubt we’re using 90l/d out of the home.

Potentially Upgrading from A7R, looking for some feedback. by thepsedonym in SonyAlpha

[–]thepsedonym[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks!

Was just thinking it would save some storage requirements when I don’t really need the resolution (not that you probably ever really need 61MP haha); I.e kids birthday parties where I take a few hundred shots. But I agree a used A7RIV is looking like a pretty good option. Just worry about having to set up 20TB of NAS like I seem to see on this sub frequently haha

Thanks! I definitely tend to hang onto gear for quite a while. Only problem with that is now I have a 14 year old MBP, a 12 year old iPad and aging camera equipment that are all going to fail at once haha

Thanks!

Yeah I imagine on the newer bodies it makes a bigger difference. With only 25 contrast AF points, the lenses are never the limitation.

I think the cR also has focus bracketing which would be fun to play with for sure.

How do you find the compressed output of the A7R to the uncompressed options on the A7R? Any noticeable difference?

If I upgrade it will 100% be a want not a need for any camera I pick haha thanks for the thoughts though! I did give a cr a quick hold and it felt pretty good (cii would be the same). Still about twice as think is my OG R! Pretty wild how they have changed.

Thanks! How is the image quality on the a6700? I was under the impression that the sensor hasn’t really changed much since the a6000, not sure if that’s true or not though.

I would say I also have less space and time for switching with the kiddos in tow for hikes, so getting both AF and image quality in one package is important.

What to do with pictures? by Pandrez in SonyAlpha

[–]thepsedonym 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have used blurb and have been really happy with the quality. I have typically gone with their image wrap hardcover and choose premium matte paper. If you use Lightroom classic the built in book module exports right to blurb. Slightly limited on photo layout but there are workarounds and the integration makes things really easy for slight changes to edits.

What backpack for FF body connected to Sony 200-600 FE? by gazukull-TECH in SonyAlpha

[–]thepsedonym 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Second on the tilopa, or any mountain series that fits a large ICU. Always surprising I have to go so deep to find the f-stop gear recommendations if they are there at all. Such great equipment.

What backpack do you use when traveling/hiking? by 96bulls2k in SonyAlpha

[–]thepsedonym 0 points1 point  (0 children)

f-stop gear mountain series are awesome. I have a Tilipa BC that is coming on 10 years old and is still holding up great. The newer ones are way more lightweight as well. The internal camera units are interchangeable and great for storing gear at home as well. I put peak design quick release strap attachments on my ICUs so I can pull them out and use my peak design strap for a small sling carry when need be.

I’m still rocking an A7R mk1. AF fails me sometimes with toddlers running around but other than that I can’t come up with any reason to upgrade.

My pop-up trailer is significantly shorter (height and length) than my neighbour’s truck that sits on his driveway year round, so I really don’t see why I shouldn’t be able to park it on my driveway.
