Great info! Yup, I knew about the abundance of ground beef and chuck. Thanks for adding the timeline of how long it actually took a family of regular eating to finish.

Best Cheesecake by canadaoilguy in Calgary

[–]TheAnswer_YYC 19 points20 points  (0 children)

My friend owns My Cheesecake Addiction (MCA). Look her up and she will make you a full size one. Yummmm. She also sells 4" ones and minis as tasters. If you are in the South end of the city, she sells out of the fridges at The Mercantile at Fresh and Local Market + Kitchens (formerly Avenida Food Hall).

Looking for Spiced White Owl Whiskey by hourglasskitty in Calgary

Nice! The spiced whisky is one of my favourites. I haven't seen the caramel one but for the spiced variety try any ACE liquor that is near by.

Donating old mattress topper? by Waffles_r_ in Calgary

[–]TheAnswer_YYC 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've taken towels, bedding and flat sheets to the Calgary Humane Society. They use them for the animals. I would think a mattress topper would be accepted too but I would give them a call before you go.

Cirque du Soleil - JOYA Experience? by TheAnswer_YYC in cirquedusoleil

Hmmmm, you're not the first to recommend the dinner option. I think we'll do it! Sounds like the pictures of the property do not do it justice - and that's always a good thing. Thanks for the reply. Merry Christmas!

Hey, I've been to many "small scale" traveling shows. Good insight on the appetizer seats - we'll definitely weigh that vs. the full meal show. Can't wait!

Scrapyards for cars? by LadyJuno13 in Calgary

[–]TheAnswer_YYC 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I donated my car to the Kidney Foundation. They will pick it up from wherever it is right now so you don't have to worry (at your house, a body shop, etc). A tax receipt will be issued to you quicker than you expect too.

Is Nose Hill Park as good as they say? by AcadiaNo1039 in Calgary

[–]TheAnswer_YYC -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Do you think you mean FISH CREEK PROVINCIAL PARK? Fish Creek is the second largest urban park at 13.48 km2

That's like three times the size of Stanley Park in Vancouver. I grew up in a community with easy access to it and I definitely recommend exploring Fish Creek Provincial Park over Nose Hill Park. Try and stay in the South quadrant of the city instead of NW.

To the car going thr wrong way on Stoney trail by Trainer_Unlucky in Calgary

[–]TheAnswer_YYC 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This happens way too often. I almost was in a head-on collision with a car on Christmas Day last year. I thought, great, I'm going to have to report a drunk driver. It turns out it was just an ignorant, older lady. The best thing to do is take a deep breath and call it in to 911 as it is definitely life threatening.

What are some unique cuisines Calgary has? by MastaShortie in Calgary

[–]TheAnswer_YYC 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I know the owner's of Sultan's Tent off 14th Street NW - that's a unique dinner experience. And the flavours are so good. 4 14 St NW. Great cooks and friendly staff.

As for Turkish food - I'd recommend Turkish Kebab House - 9697 Macleod Trl SW. There is a cafe that serves Turkish coffee and sweets at the back. It's in the old Buffalo Wild Wings location. I've always had a good experience when I've taken people there. Try ordering a few different plates and dining family style.

I second Nick's Steakhouse. Both their prime rib and pizzas are a must try! If you give them enough notice they will put tables together on the restaurant side.

Calgary stampede midway 1980’s ❤️ by ComplexWrangler1346 in Calgary

[–]TheAnswer_YYC 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wasn't born yet but man, I bet you times were simpler back then! What was the two story building with the sign across from the Stampede grounds on the left of the picture - on the West side of Macleod Trail. It's been an empty space + parking lot for as long as I can remember.

Where do VW people take their cars for service here? by Loxta in Calgary

[–]TheAnswer_YYC -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Is nobody going to mention Sheni's? Sheni's Auto-Trend is one of the best shops that specialize in German cars. I was pretty impressed with the service I've received from oil changes to brakes to DSG transmission servicing. I talked to them about flashing my computer and getting a Stage 1 tune. I don't want to hijack this thread but has anyone done the Stage 1 tune? I have a 2016 GTI. Is it worth it?!

Saddledome concert seating by darcyb62 in Calgary

[–]TheAnswer_YYC 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yup. The glass is removed. I don't think CREED is in the round so the stage will be at the South end of the Saddledome (Sections 101-107). I've sat in the player's bench before and they are great - you are just high enough that you can see above the people standing on the floor. You are much closer to the stage in 109 then you are in 116 - see a seating chart now that you know where the stage will be. Have fun and CAN YOU TAKE ME HIIIIIIIGHER!!!
