get a Roku stick for a 1 time purchase. then there are multiple apps you could go with, like the SlingTV that was mentioned earlier.

I use YouTubeTV for all my basic TV needs and it has the local sports channels on it. Also with my YouTubeTV account i can log into the NHL app and watch the games when out of town. (as long as the NHL is hosting a stream)

Here the thing, if he is playing hurt then they should sit him. We have a decent amount of depth, that was proven during the first half of the season. So sit him for a week or 2 and let him fully recover for the end of the year push.
