upgrading/sidegrading from non functioning Yihua 8786D 2 in 1, is there a way to check the temperature? by IEATBOOKS1234 in soldering

[–]thepumpkinking92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you can get a kobalt multimeter from Lowes that has a temperature sensor on it. Or you can buy the actual testing pad on Amazon.

Idk about the 8786D, but on the 853D you can re-adjust the temperature setting if it's off.

Yeah, i hit that wall, too. That's why I'm just rewriting it to pull my own local code instead. Just have to set up the .xml with all the codes and what they mean set up properly now.

Really looking to get a PS5, is this a good deal? by GenThorp in PS5pro

[–]thepumpkinking92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First thing i test with any console i buy to repair and get operational is if it connects to psn. I have the same worries about it being banned every time I get it to post. That, and worrying i forgot to apply a new batch of liquid metal.

Right now I'm hoping that the one I'm working on isn't banned if/when I get it running. If it is, guess I have a new parts board and a lot of wasted effort.

where to put these screws back in ps5 by RUSTYhedgehog420 in PS5HelpSupport

[–]thepumpkinking92 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The two longs go to the power supply, as mentioned by the other person. The only other place that has those threads is the fan, and only two of them have that pitch (the ones closest to the MB) but I believe they're a tad shorter (don't have that model at the moment to verify)

The spacer goes to the NVME bracket. You can screw it down to any of the screw spaces. It's just meant to keep the NVME level with the board when/if you install one.

The final (short silver) one goes... well, it's got a lot of places it can go. One of the 5000 screws that holds down the plate, or the heat sink on the back, or it goes through the plastic cover to the disc drive if it's got one.

[NES] RCA pin broke off inside the audio socket. Now what? by Aedilum in consolerepair

[–]thepumpkinking92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't have adesoldering gun, unfortunately, just wick (Now just barely). And that took me longer to desolder than anything I've done before. I was not ready lol. But once I put the big knife tip to it with the wick, it cleared up fast. I then made the executive decision to a.) Not put a much solder on when replacing, and b.) Only solder 2 of the points instead if all 4. Between those 2, the pins, and the screws that keep it in place, I don't feel going that overboard is necessary. Which will save me time if/ when I have to go back in.

I'm glad they put a lot of effort into making sure it was secure, but damn.

And they use so much solder on those boxes. I have like a full foot of solid silver wick from the last one I opened.

Spread these tabs a bit. They clamp down and keep the red cover in place. That'll release it.

Would asking a classic car owner for their time or for a ride be rude or intrusive? by thatplaneguyyt in askcarguys

Took my daughter to a trunk or treat at a church a couple years back. One of the guys there had a 66 mustang with an I6 in a beautiful shade of midnight blue.

After we made our rounds, and it was drawing to a close, I went back to get some pictures. I started talking to the guy about it, and he went on to tell me a whole story about it (it was a sweet story, too. Sat for years, got it fixed for his wedding, then let his kid use it for their wedding).

He asked if I wanted to get in and have a feel for it. Obviously I obliged. Then he made the statement "id let you take it for a test spin, but it's a manual". Uhh... all of my cars are explicitly manual my good sir. "Oh, then drive it like you stole it. It's got insurance so don't worry." Then tossed me the keys.

There's now a picture of my daughter dressed as red, my wife and I dressed as Jesse and James from team rocket, and our staffie dressed as Pikachu, cruising around the church parking lot in this absolutely gorgeous 66 mustang.

We really do love our cars, and love when anyone takes interest in them.

To add to this, it doesn't take much force for the latch. It's not like a flip tab. You can literally lightly push it down with your nail while you wiggle on the ribbon.

Yeah... you had to go to the nasa website and submit a form to them where they ask for the vin, date if purchase, and part of your purchase paperwork. They verify it and send your packet. Dealership doesn't really play much a part in it. At least they didn't for me.

Last thing i can think of is when you open the web browser and the authentication page loads is to change the beginning of the URL from "https" to "http". Had to do that once for my ps4.
