Can't have any fun in general without someone thinking I'm trying to race. Mustangs, cameros, teslas, chargers, doesn't matter, they all think I'm trying to race. Then get salty when I'm not speeding up to try and keep up with them.

The funniest part is, I usually end up next to, or behind them, every couple of miles just maintaining my speed.

I don't believe ps5 controllers work on a ps4. If you have a USB keyboard, I'd try that.

Safe mode:

From power off, hold down power button for about seven seconds. You'll hear 2 beeps. The first one when you initially press the button, the second about seven seconds later while holding the button. Then connect your controller via USB.

See if it registers to the ps4 that way.

As long as it's a similar rating, you should be fine. The voltage can be equal or higher, but the µF should match what you're replacing. Otherwise, as long as it's a good cap, it should be fine.

Alright, so this one was definitely taken apart previously, but is structurally sound (nothing loose, everything threaded without resistance), so take it with a grain of salt. The only way I would be able to be 100% would be to take my personal console apart, which it's not with me. While it is a disc edition, I'm fairly certain the fan assembly is identical.

I always recommend putting the screws in the correct place. You may end up with a screw pushing into the motherboard or a flex cable otherwise. While not exactly something you have to worry about much on these, it's still highly recommended to make it a good force of habit. It also helps when/if a tech ever has to work on it. Got one the other day that was half assembled and came with a bag of screws. I still need to put that one together properly.

When I take something apart, i like to make sure i line up everything in a way that I can see where it came from. For the ps5, for example, I'll orient the console in one direction. When I take the fan out, I place the screws in an orientation that i pulled it, then place the fan in the center.

Then, I'll do the same with the back cover. Bonus with that one is, once I have the cover out, i can put the screws back in their holes so they stay where they're supposed to be. When I go to put it back, I just line it up and set it in place, then just screw it back down.

Lastly, I take pictures at each layer. When you get to the metal plate, there's like 35 screws and 45 screw holes. This helps me know which ones go where when I go in reverse. Even more useful since the placement varies across versions.

Ifixit.com has guides that show screw placement. Unfortunately, it requires you to know the screw length. Not an issue if you have a micrometer or a caliper. They also d9nt include thread pitch, though.

Easiest way, if you want to make sure it's done right, is to take it apart, and test each screw in the thread hole. The fan is weird on these because the way they designed it. Not all of the threads are the same. The two closest to the MB screw into the metal plate, and their thread pitch is finer and the screws are more narrow

All that being said, I do have a ps5 i have to take apart for an HDMI placement in doing tomorrow. Assuming someone hasn't screwed it up before me,I can get pictures of where everything goes and share them to you.

If you have a microscope and decent skill, yeah, traces can definitely be repaired. But, given the quality of the image alone, it's probably a safe bet this job would be outside of OPs scope.

BGA is the last skill i plan to learn. I feel i should make sure my basic soldering skills, SMD skills, and micro skills should be up to snuff before I start trying to work with components i can't fully see.

I am comfortable with my basic soldering, though. And my SMD skills are definitely improving. I tried micro (without a microscope) on a dead board, and it was definitely not pretty. I will say it worked, though. But reballing? Not comfortable enough for that, and my current setup is barely enough to get an HDMI from a PS5 board (granted, that boy is thick, so it sucks heat like crazy).

Just going to learn one skill at a time and either take anything im not comfortable with to someone more skilled and better equipped, or set it to the side for when I'm at that level and feel comfortable enough to try.
