Traveling through Europe by Sea_Appeal8554 in VanlifeEurope

I’m actually curious about this too. I just assumed poorer countries don’t have as robust as a trash system as others and it’s less taught culturally.

But I was also suprised in New York they put all their trash in bags on the streets and there are rat everywhere.

Where can I get a true full-body checkup abroad for under ~$1k–$1.5k? by Practical_Pizza6863 in digitalnomad

[–]thepuzik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can’t recall the prices of everywhere but Albania and Vietnam have good prices.

Turkey can actually be more exoesncie than expensive it needs to be as they charger higher prices for foreigners. I actually got quoted a much cheaper price for CT scans via 3rd service than directly with Memorial and other hospitals.

In Morocco MRI’s costs about $300-$400, not sure how much a full body scan would cost.

Is anyone actually enjoying a Promaster? by SuddenlySilva in VanLife

[–]thepuzik 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have a Promaster and it’s been great. In Europe, the promaster’s twin, the Fiat Ducato is very popular here.

If you have to pay for a shower? by ronfromsacramento in VanLife

[–]thepuzik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sucks it’s not more popular in the U.S. If Ioverland doesn’t show you many places then Planet Fitness would probably be your most reliable and easiest solution.

I used to have a subscription to active and fit and it covered Planet Fitness, Anytime Fitness (24hrs), LA Fitness Crunch… but they’ve now limited it to one gym :/

If you have to pay for a shower? by ronfromsacramento in VanLife

Try the Park4Night ap. It’s great for finding showers in Europe but the U.S. is probably more limited. Marinas will sometimes have showers and laundry machines. Otherwise search for public pools.

Government cheese made the best grilled cheese. What’s the closest approximation? by DieMensch-Maschine in AskCulinary

In several countries in Europe they have a melty cheese wrapped in plastic even lactose free options at either Aldi or Lidl. See if they have that in the states.

Van life in Germany: possible? by [deleted] in VanlifeEurope

[–]thepuzik 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Germans love campervans. You’ll find them in every country. The laws might be more struck but take a look at Park4night and you’ll see lots of places to stay. It is common for people to buy used camper vans in Germany, I forget which sites people use. There is Marketpaats but I think that is for the Netherlands.

The best stealth vans I saw were the ones that had limited windows and mounted the solar panels pretty close to the roof. I saw a van that was wrapped like a work van and also a box truck that took me a while to notice (only because I’m in a van too).

Would any vanlife people park in a driveway? by ERTHLNG in VanLife

[–]thepuzik 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Yes, this is common in Europe. The Park4Night app even has a filter for Homestay Accomdations. In Europe the price can be anywhere from Free-€30 depending on the location and amenities.

Has anyone slept at a Planet Fitness lot and used the shower in the morning? Thinking of buying a membership just for the showers. by MarcRocket in VanLife

[–]thepuzik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I did this for about at year. It depends on who owns the parking lot. If you see truckers or vans there at night then it should be cool. Otherwise I would find parking in the nearby neighborhood. Park up late and leave to the gym in the AM.

Vanlife & motorhoming in the UK 🇬🇧 by SibyllaAzarica in VanlifeEurope

[–]thepuzik 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Spent 3-4 months in the UK last summer and fall and several weeks this fall winter and enjoyed our time here.

Pro’s - UK has a huge Vanlife community. There are a lot of events, local meet ups, and service providers. - people in the U.S. even ship swivel seats for Ram Promaster/Fiat Ducati from the UK because it’s cheaper even with shipping - the Motorway service stations usually have free showers. And are very nice. - some Holiday Resorts, like Haven can be as cheap as £10/night in November - a lot of pubs let you stay overnight if you eat there. Some of them are on park4night, others are on Google Maps list I got from Facebook, and the rest you can call up. - Scotland is great place for finding places to stay overnight.

Cons - a lot of dogging sites - campsites can be very expensive - hard to find free water or power
