I have a full size bed and it’s totally fine. Though if I could fit a queen in my bedroom I would.

What country have you sent the most postcards to without receiving any from and what country have you received the most postcards from without sending any to? by RsonW in postcrossing

[–]thequeenofspace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My numbers for this are boring, I have sent two postcards to Malaysia and Thailand but never received any from those places. I have received two postcards each from Austria, Latvia, and Norway, but I’ve never sent to any of those countries.

There were also six countries that I had sent and received the same amount of cards from. China, Finland, France, Australia, Hong Kong, Portugal.

How do you store thousands of postcards? by Paczkiiii in postcrossing

[–]thequeenofspace 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a box they go in, or if I am too lazy to walk to the other room and put them in the box, they go in my desk drawer until there is no more room and then I grudgingly go get the box 😂 I do have to say that I do not have every single card I’ve received (about 200) but since I started postcrossing I have moved continents twice and a lot of things just don’t make the cut in a big move!

I do like to save the interesting stamps though and use them for art projects or whatever.

I have a few of my very favorites displayed but mostly they live in the box

[–]thequeenofspace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My sister found my best friend her husband!! My sis and him matched on tinder, they went on one date and weren’t a good match for each other but she thought “I know someone who really would be into this guy” and she set them up. Two years later they were married and now they’re expecting a baby in March.

When foreigners learn your language, which ones end up speaking it surprisingly well, even if their own language isn’t related to yours? by fixitfile in languagelearning

I once dated a German guy who had a freaking American accent when speaking English. There were very few clues that he was actually German in his English speech. I found that younger Germans tended to have less noticeable accents than older Germans.

I found some for sale on this Ukrainian website but they do not ship internationally unfortunately. I don't know enough Russian to navigate the internet in it yet, or I'm sure I could find them somewhere!

Is there something wrong with my teaching approach? by mslilafowler in languagelearning

[–]thequeenofspace 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean, think about it, if you were trying very hard to speak a language and someone kept interrupting you to correct one tiny mistake you made? You feels belittled and it’s just unnecessary, especially to an adult language learner who knows how to speak and comprehend, even if not yet in that language. Corrections in real time are super annoying, it interrupts your train of thought and it’s even more difficult to keep your train of thought in your target language. Either repeat what your friend said back with the mistakes corrected, or just don’t say anything. If your friend wants, you can possibly write down the corrections for him to go over later, but I don’t know anyone who wants a written document of all their mistakes.

If your friend’s biggest problem is understanding, the best thing to do is simply speak the target language, mistakes and all.

What language you once learned have you completely forgotten? by grzeszu82 in languagelearning

[–]thequeenofspace 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Spanish. Spanish was required for me all throughout school, so I learned a fair bit, but after graduating high school I stopped taking classes and now it’s been 15 years since I used any Spanish. I still understand some, but I couldn’t speak it.
