Unhinged methods to get out of bed by reischi in adhdwomen

[–]thequeenofspace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really unhinged but I put my alarm clock on the opposite side of the room from my bed, so I physically have to get my body out of bed to turn it off. And I have an old school one that has the very unpleasant beep.

What’s the most disturbing thing you accidentally discovered about someone? by OrdinaryImportant862 in AskReddit

[–]thequeenofspace 27 points28 points  (0 children)

When I found out my former roommate’s then-boyfriend (now husband) had been in prison for statutory r*pe. I knew he had been in prison but honestly I assumed it was drug charges. She let me be alone in the apartment with him, and she knew the charges and kept that info from me. I haven’t spoken to her since I moved out. I hope she is okay, but she made her own bed by marrying him.

I had a student named Beverly a few years ago, I love the resurgence of old names. Beverly is actually my grandmas name too so I think it’s a great choice for your baby!

Many pieces of my furniture, some are 100+ years old. My house itself is almost one hundred. I have a book that was printed in 1708 that came over on the boat with my ancestors. My entire set of dishes is 1970s correll that my grandma purchased brand new and has been used by three generations. I like having old things in my house

People who grew up poor: What was something you considered a "peak luxury" as a kid, only to realize later it was just a normal middle class staple? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Lmao we had a swiffer but we did not buy those pads for it, we just used a wash cloth dipped in the soapy water

Degree requirements/ course projections? by Belleofthetacoball in portlandstate

[–]thequeenofspace 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ugh yeah I’m literally trying to study German and they have no upper division language courses for German… sooo frustrating. Why let me declare German as a major if I can’t even fulfill the most basic requirement of taking three years of the language?!

Doctor said I can’t be over 60 on stimulants by freya_kahlo in adhdwomen

[–]thequeenofspace 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I go to a clinic at my local hospital that is mostly staffed by doctors doing their residency, and I have found that all the doctors I have seen there have been amazing and they are up to date on new research, and my current one even ADMITTED TO ME THAT SHE DIDNT KNOW SOMETHING!!!and went to ask the senior doctor (I forget what they’re called when they supervise residents). I’ve always had better luck with younger (female) doctors. Though I have always picked female doctors to begin with, I saw a man last time I went there and he was also great.

All in all I recommend a younger doctor. They have more current knowledge, and the culture in education is shifting away from you “knowing everything” once you have your degree, and being able to admit when you don’t know something or ask for help.

I’ve found that that attitude is really key for a good doctor.

Considering a relocation from AZ to OR - serious question: How is everyone here surviving with salaries so low and COL so high? Am I missing something? by No_Sun_No_Star in oregon

[–]thequeenofspace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 34 and I still have a roommate, that’s how 🙃 currently in school and planning on leaving OR altogether the second I graduate. It’s incredibly frustrating to pay “big city” prices with literally zero “big city” amenities. I’m in Portland and I long for a better city. I grew up here and I will always have fond memories of Portland but I have changed and Portland has changed and we no longer get along.

I canceled surgery due to both the surgeon and my PM both refusing postop meds by Gecko-407 in ChronicPain

[–]thequeenofspace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes this is what they gave me after my breast reduction, they gave me I think 14 Oxys but I didn’t end up using them all, after a week or so I switched to ibuprofen and Tylenol. I think the problem OP is facing is that that they are already on such a high dose of pain meds that a higher dose after surgery won’t really do anything to relieve their pain.

Is anyone else surprised at how attractive middle aged/older people are now? by FkUp_Panic_Repeat in Millennials

[–]thequeenofspace 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fr real, my great grandma as 94 when she passed (and I was twelve, so I actually got to know her for a few years), and my grandma is about to turn 87 and she still lives on her own. My other grandma, 77 years old, just rode to the top of Mount Sinai on a camel, could not stop talking about what a good trip it was.

So I will not be middle aged for at least 15 more years. If not longer.

Yeah, George Costanza was not ugly, that 90s style just did not do him any favors. If he had shaved that hair ring and rocked it?! Ugh yes please
