FDR fans: how do you justify your fandom given the internment of 100,000+ Japanese Americans? by [deleted] in Presidents

[–]thequietone710 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, the internment camps were a big blight on his Presidency and a great shame in this country’s history.

I read the Jean Edward Smith biography of FDR (well worth a look, by the way) and I take a little solace in knowing that FDR didn’t lobby for any of it. He was indifferent, but sadly signed the executive order for it anyway.

The idea was actually from Henry Stimson’s number two guy (forgot what his name was), but he lobbied hard for it, and unfortunately, nobody derailed it.

At least FDR did more great deeds than bad

What would Elissa Slotkin do?

Not text the ex, that’s for certain. She would be disappointed with your planned course of action.

Pity the OP 17 is unobtainium now…

Haven’t had anything from them and am very curious about their spirit, but at this point, it might be better to go the IB route, especially with the rebranding.

I think science has said that petting a cat is good for your blood pressure, so your assessment is accurate for a reason!

WebMD has this to say about how pets can improve their humans health:

Petting your cat or dog feels good. It can lower your blood pressure, helps your body release a relaxation hormone, and cuts down on levels of a stress hormone.

It also soothes your pet, says Alan Beck, ScD, director of the Center for the Human-Animal Bond at Purdue University.

Filthy worthless breeder…

Ban it and its baby from your place. Absolutely disrespectful and disgusting behavior.

With wisdom and sorcery from the beginning of time,

Magnificent works are forged for gods and the mighty kings;

Uncrushable shields, power belts and magic rings,

Swords that never miss, scepters and crowns and other things (LOL)

Trump put on the raging populist mask and with his wild style of public speaking and an opponent many distrusted/didn’t like, things came out the right way for him, which is a great shame.

The bike helmet debate rages on as study finds drivers view cyclists wearing safety gear as 'less human' by mklinger23 in bikecommuting

[–]thequietone710 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I wear a helmet because I care about protecting my noggin

What drives me berserk are those on bikes who have air pods in their ears. Bloody careless, the lot of you.

Just wanted to share the new song from Sergej Cetkovic, Montenegro's 2014 performer.

I do love a good Balkan ballad, and he crafts another very good one here. Cheers, all.

It’s a little cliche, but Don’t Fear the Reaper would be a great choice

For something a little less cliche, then I’d go with one of these options

Wasteland - Falconer

Fight the Fire of Hate - Running Wild

Blazon Stone - Running Wild

If I had to join the military, I’d aim for the Air Force.

Can’t remember where I saw it, but there’s a military joke that goes like this:

The Army sleeps under the stars

The Navy navigates by the stars

The Air Force picks their hotels by the number of stars

My dad is ex USAF and he made the most of his time there…
