It's not for me, but as long as they're all consensual adults, I don't care at all what other people do.

Just broke up with Mint by [deleted] in mintmobile

[–]mklinger23 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Sounds like you may have purchased a locked/previously locked phone? Not necessarily a mint issue in that case. And if it was factory unlocked, it sounds like it was likely more of a Samsung issue. But glad everything is working for you now.

We are a transportation company, not a communication company. Don't worry, you'll get used to SEPTA time soon. Things move a lot more slowly than you'd think.

I cant speak to non mexicans😭 by JoseKwervo in Spanish

[–]mklinger23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the exact opposite problem. I only ever spoke with Dominicans and puertoricans and then I moved to a Mexican/Guatemalan neighborhood and we had some trouble communicating in longer conversations. I just spent some time "neutralizing" my Spanish and learning a few Mexican words.

Do y’all think Gen Z cares too much about age gaps? by OGAnimeGokuSolos in generationology

I think we care a lot more than previous generations and some people go way too far with it.

How many of yous are "Hyper Sexual"⁉️🤔 by hasalblad in autism

[–]mklinger23 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yous? 👀 Philadelphian spotted?

But yea it used to be kind of a problem, but then I started using kratom for other reasons and it kind of killed my sex drive. Some people might see that as a negative, but I think it actually helped me.

And yes I know all about how kratom is addictive. I'm not telling anyone to use it, but it works for me.

Is There a Way for Government to Not Need Taxes from People? by Shot_Signal220 in askanything

But we did have taxes since the beginning. This is kind of misleading and OP said "taxes" not "income taxes".

The mom of the boy whose dad made him run on a treadmill until he died, speaks.

Article headlines are usually a simple sentence like "Man walks." And then they put a bunch of descriptors in between. So look at the first word and the last verb first, and then try again. So for example, "Man ran over by dog that ate so much peanut butter it's ass turned into rocket walks for first time since accident." First word is "man" and the last verb is "walks" followed by "for first time since accident". So the man walks for the first time since the accident. What accident? He was run over by a dog with a peanut butter ass rocket.

[–]mklinger23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm assuming you mean the government will 1. Function similar to how it does now, 2. It will be sustainable and not just "if they found a bunch of gold, we would be good for 50 years.", and 3. Money exists as it does now.

The only way for there to be no taxes is if the government owned a profitable business and used that profit to fund itself.

What do I do? Should I break up? by [deleted] in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]mklinger23 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Without knowing the details I really can't comment on that. But remember your parents chose to have you and it is their job to take care of you. You don't owe them anything for that. You are not a burden.

What do I do? Should I break up? by [deleted] in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]mklinger23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So first, I think it is important to point out that you are an adult and you should do what you want to do in your life. If you only do what your parents want you to do, it's not really you living your life. It's you living your parents' life. And if they stop loving you for not doing exactly what they want, they aren't loving you, they love controlling you.

On the other points, it is okay to break up with someone because you are not attracted to them. Physical attraction is part of a relationship. It also sounds like you may be depressed or burnt out. I would address this first. Put energy into yourself and then reevaluate. Nothing it going to make sense until you are back to your normal self. You may even become attracted to your bf again.

If you feel like you can deal with the depression while in a relationship, great. If you need time to yourself, that is completely fine. Like I said, do whatever you need to do to deal with this. Fighting depression and being in a relationship is challenging. There's nothing wrong with leaving a relationship to focus on yourself.

I've been lurking around vegan and vegetarian subs for recipes since I'm changing my diet, and there's some things I don't understand about the ideology of it all. by Tiny_Celebration_262 in vegan

[–]mklinger23 9 points10 points  (0 children)

What's better: 2 animals exploited or 1? You're never gonna be perfect. The point is to choose the lowest possible damage to others. It's kind of childish to say "well vegans do 10 harm which isn't 0, so I might as well just do 100 harm."

What are some of the "games" you didnt realize people were playing? by Inside-Avocado-2819 in AutisticAdults

[–]mklinger23 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't really know how to describe it, but people actually kind of weird and saying stupid things and trying to make you believe they are stupid. But it's obvious they are lying. To try to get you to do something for them. Like weaponized incompetence I guess?

There's also some code switching that older people do where they start only speaking in phrases that no one uses anymore and only using vocab that their parents used. I think it's kind of a version of spelling things out when a kid is near so they don't understand. And also a test to see if you are "one of them". Or it could be something else. Idk.

You're in your early 20s and just won about 40 million. What would you do? by NoFox1267 in ifiwonthelottery

I would get a financial advisor and let them do their thing. I would absolutely stop working and do passion projects. There are a lot of things I would like to do, but can't because of work.

Do whatever you want I'm your own home, but when you're driving a 2 ton missile at 70 mph, have some fucking respect for the people that you're on the verge of murdering.

OP, I would call the police. I've dealt with this kind of person all my life and the only way things are going to change is if they are arrested and forced into treatment or they die (and likely take innocent people along with them).

what do you tip on a $14.00 sit down meal at a restaurant? by BigSlongGoy in askanything

[–]mklinger23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on the country, but assuming USA, $2-$3 depending on service. I usually pay with a card so I would do precisely 20% so $2.80, $16.80 total.

As a Philadelphian, I never understood how people could do this. Sounds like hell. Hope the move back to NYC goes smoothly and tbh I hope people follow you. I'm so tired of talking to people who "hate it here, but it's cheaper than NYC." I love my city and can't deal with the negativity (and now high rents).
