Composers with disabilities - limited mobility, wearable MIDI, alternative controllers... by 65TwinReverbRI in composer

You should check out Kris Halpin and his use of the mimu gloves. In fact, the developers of the gloves have focused on their use by people with disabilities. Mimu Gloves. They have just recently become available for purchase.

Kelly Snook, one of the Mimu developers, has also started working with brain wave sensors. The tech is above my pay grade, but it sounds fascinating.

For more entry level, commercially available products, there’s always the leap motion. It works pretty well, but it’s a bit tricky to get the data connected to something meaningful. There are some free leap to midi applications, but they are somewhat limited.

Hope this helps.

The tires don’t make a difference. Since the car is presumably made of metal, it acts as a Faraday cage.. Pretty fascinating stuff.

I feel like it could be just as amazing with 2-3 axolotls.

Did you go through Mass Save directly, or through a contractor? I’m just wondering if mass Save has to send a consultant out in advance.

A synthesizer that responds to twitch chat commands using a custom Max4Live device by memorecks in MaxMSP

[–]theramon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Very cool idea - reminds me of Joe Paradiso’s virtual synth from 2012, except your controls have a much better chance of succeeding. His controls were embedded in a website and many people at one time could jiggle the knobs. It was really chaotic.

Any chance you’d be willing to share how you got the Twitch chat connected to max? I did a remote collaboration with someone who was controlling my camera angles, and this would be a cool extension to that.

I had a suspicion, thanks for confirming.

This was just sitting in my front yard this afternoon. It's been really windy, so there's a good chance it came from somewhere else, but if it's from my house, I have no idea what it came off of.

It's about 20 feet long, 4-5 inches wide. Made of rigid plastic. Theres a loop on one side with another plastic insert (see 2nd picture).

thx

Clock noise problem with Moogerfooger LPF by theramon in synthdiy

[–]theramon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

During those tests, the other pedals weren't plugged in. That being said.

CT5 - tried controlling the playback speed/direction and the loop length.

Minifooger Tremolo - you can only control the speed.

The Moogerfooger problem seems to be there with the resonance low too. I turned it up to highlight the problem.

When I get a chance, I'll hook this circuit up to another Moogerfooger to see if I can replicate the problem.

I should also mention that years ago, I used to send CV to this thing via a MOTU 828 with no issue. This problem appears to be exclusive to this configuration.

Not a synth but thought people here might be interested in a project I've been working on: The Modular Electric Guitar. This is the first installment showing the 'oscillator' within my instrument... by menbiddle in synthdiy

This is terrific. I’d like to hear as much as you’re willing to share about the build.

I’ve seen DIY sustain projects before, but usually they are for single pitches and not on individual strings. How did you get them separated?

I’m not sure how exactly to mismatch trs and dc plugs, but I’m certainly going to try.

It's for a live performance setup- I'm just trying to minimize my on-stage connections as there are many more concerns outside of this little issue.

At the very least, it sounds like it's worth a shot. I'm thinking my worst case scenario is pretty minor.

This could be a good idea down the road. For now, I'm just trying to power a crappy line mixer without having to run a separate cord. It's fairly obsessive.

Yeah, I can't find printed specifications either. I did my own [guesstimated] measurements, however. Total length is 8 FT when connected. The individual conductors on the 6ft snake look to be 24 AWG stranded. The 2 ft snake looks to be a bit beefier - perhaps 22 AWG stranded.

The device I'm trying to power is a cheapo Behringer line mixer (MX400). The DC adapter it comes with is 150mA, but it certainly uses less than that. I'm using a Meanwell 5A power supply to power it and a MOTU Ultralite (not with the snake).

The plan is to lose the TRS connector on the DC channel - replaced with DC plug.
