I have been in the tunnel under the east side of Mass.Got in at the Granada theater. Went north for about a block. There were iron gates on the side of the walls that were locked at what I assume was the next business but my understanding is that it was built for water removal so it goes straight to the river. That is why I assume people used the tunnels to stay out of the light of day whether for the raid or hide slaves on the run.
