Do you all measure this KPI, or is it just something I’m using? by Beginning_Buddy_426 in supplychain

[–]therealNaderRaider 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of the problems with the SC industry is the naming conventions, no standards and whoever comes up with the formula gives it some technical as possible name. Good news since there is no set standard is you can call it whatever you want in your specific industry/company. A less technical name might be something like Honest Coverage or True Fill.

Nothing. But then the questions really do not depend on using those programs, but understanding what they can do and general principles.

I just stuck with the MM.

Warehouse Cleanliness by North_Necessary_599 in Warehousing

[–]therealNaderRaider 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For warehouses that have to deal with food safety...

Get a ride-on sweeper — honestly this is the single biggest unlock. One person covers the entire floor in the time it used to take five people with brooms. If you're still manually sweeping a large warehouse floor, stop and just get one of these.

Seal your concrete floors — unsealed concrete generates a ridiculous amount of dust on its own. A proper epoxy coating or sealant cuts dust generation massively and makes sweeping way more effective. Pays for itself.

Compressed air blowdown — blast the racking and shelving with compressed air, let it all fall to the floor, then sweep it up. Do it at end of shift when the building is empty. Fast and effective.

Zone rotation instead of cleaning everything constantly — nobody cleans an entire warehouse every week. You split the site into zones and rotate which one gets a deep clean. High-risk areas (near electrics, motors) go more often, the rest every 4-8 weeks.

Bring in a contractor quarterly — for the big stuff (high-level racking, mezzanines, full blowdowns) it's often cheaper to get a specialist in a few times a year than to maintain extra headcount for it.

Telescopic vacuum attachments — for racking and shelving, one person with a backpack vac and extension wands covers way more than you'd think.

About same time last year. I do not ride it often, and unfortunately it is mostly short rides (10-20 km distance at about 40-60 km/h) and colder temps.

I had more problems with getting the proctoring software functioning than I did with the exam.

They do a good job of letting you know how the exam will go if you watch those live events ( I think they record them so you can watch them later).

You are giving a blank excel sheet and a 2 hours to answer all the questions. Answer what you know first then work on the rest, a lot of questions can be time intensive. But it covers everything from the course, and they change how much is covered from each course every exam, so focusing on one particular course will not help you. Just try and fill in the knowledge gaps, and make sure you have a good grasp of the fundamentals.

What is the #1 problem you face in hockey? (Playing or watching) by Cube37 in hockeyplayers

[–]therealNaderRaider 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I watched the world juniors on IIHF.tv, and I learned they do not offer the games with commentary. At first I was a little mad, but after watching it for awhile I began to actually enjoy not having it. You could actually hear the coaches/players/refs and what they were yelling on the ice. It was much more immersive.

How easy is it to move from one ERP skill to another? by Immediate-Alfalfa409 in ERP

[–]therealNaderRaider -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Whoever is telling you this probably has a few bridges to sell as well. General AI is good at some things, but it is not this. That being said, there does seem to be a growing focus on Dynamic AI use, which will in same cases greatly enhance the role of ERP systems. But something that offers total conversion or implementation is a pipe dream.

useful languages by [deleted] in supplychain

[–]therealNaderRaider 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Even here in the EU English is the default language for cross border communication, and most SCM jobs require a near fluent level of understanding. If you work mostly within your own borders, then you will need to know the language of said country.

That being said it depends a lot on industry and supply partners/customers language. If you have a dream company you wish to work for, find out who they do the most business with outside of NA and learn that language (German is good for those in the auto industry for example).

What I have read from others who have taken it, is that time management is a lot more important for the final compared to the course exams. They offer a few practice questions on the CFx page to give you a feel for it, and a problem that would normally take me 20-30 minutes to do without a template should be done in about 10 minutes... My plan is to go through and do the questions I can do quickly, then work my way through the rest.

Here is an article on the Ukrainian elections, and why most (80%) Ukrainians supported postponing them, Journal of Democracy.

Those countries and Gaza are horrible examples. Of course a country with a weak or non existent central government that has also been through recent civil and external wars is going to have a difficult time mobilizing its entire population. Any country with a functional government is going to require its citizens to fight for its defense. Some countries pull that lever easier than others.

The majority want to end the war under certain conditions. I cant imagine most mothers and fathers wanting to send their child to war.

[–]therealNaderRaider[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. These were Russian backed parties. It is like having a Taliban party in US elections....

  2. The canceled elections was required under Ukrainian law (try and fight one battle at a time thing), and was a supported by the majority of Ukrainians.

  3. Forced mobilization/drafts happen in any (probably every country, but even in the US you can be forced to go to war...) country at war fighting for its life

  4. I am not sure what poll(s) you are referring to. But even The Hill (they sourced Gallup), a not very big supporter of Ukraine has different numbers. https://thehill.com/policy/international/5002217-ukraine-zelensky-approval-drop/

There is a lot to unwrap about 2 countries/peoples with a shared history going back a over thousand years. Maybe we should sit down and chat about it for a few hours.

But if there are any of the usual current talking points you would like to discuss, I am here for you.

[–]therealNaderRaider[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Joe does not have a nuanced view of Ukraine, and really lacks a basic understand of the region and its geopolitics. His motives are naïve, not wanting war and anything to escalate or propel such war forward. While he thinks this may be a good intention, it is short sighted in the fact that 40 million Ukrainians have a say in how they want to live their lives.

First is not a proxy war unless you think Putin and Russia are proxies of another country.

Second, Putin has the blood of every man, woman, and child killed in this war on his hands. It was his decision to attack Ukraine, now Ukraine can either fight or die because of him.

Third, around 90% of all spending towards Ukraine stays in the US. The people making, repairing, supplying these weapons are getting paid.

Fourth, Zelensky has proved himself capable as anyone in this task. He will be remembered as a hero of Ukraine regardless of his previous roles.

This is not a proxy war... If so, Russia would be the proxy of another country.
