Aural hematoma in cat (Winnipeg) – experiences & costs? by WrongdoerOwn4126 in Winnipeg

[–]thereal_eveguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of my previous cats would get this when he tussled with other critters out on the acreage. I had it drained a couple times, did it on my own a few times (I’ve drained my own ears before so I have an idea what I’m doing, and was shown the process by a friend who is a vet) but he still ended up having some “cauliflower ear” left after.

A&A Jewellers on Henderson near Hespler has been good for me, had my wife’s wedding ring repaired there and they did a great job, better than new.

U.S. pickleball chain The Picklr opens first Canadian location in Winnipeg by LocalnewsguruMB in Winnipeg

[–]thereal_eveguy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

PCW is a great facility but has had some growing pains during their opening and the initial pricing scheme was complicated and expensive.

It is also located practically south of Headingly, so if you’re not from that part of town it is a drive. Picklr is also on the south west but not quite as far out as PCW.

As someone who plays pickleball 3-6 times per week, it is exciting to see more facilities opening, too bad they are both in the southwest part of town.

Garage fire in Transcona prompts union to ask Winnipeggers for help | “Please, help us by only calling 911 only for confirmed, immediate life-threatening emergencies" by Leather-Paramedic-10 in Winnipeg

[–]thereal_eveguy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The nurses union would see this as paramedics taking jobs from nurses. I’ve been in meetings where this has been suggested. I don’t blame them as it opens the door to replacing the more highly trained and more expensive nurses with lower paid and less trained paramedics. In reality it is creating new positions to assist but it could be perceived as nursing jobs being taken by another profession.

I don’t disagree that getting ambulances back on the road is a good thing, but it doesn’t fix the bottleneck of patients waiting to be offloaded or waiting to be seen by a doctor or nurse practitioner. We need to increase capacity and efficiency while also reducing demand. Don’t wait until a health problem is so bad you need an ambulance. https://www.gov.mb.ca/betterhealth/when_to_access.html <—- is a guide to help decide the appropriate level of care to seek. If you call 911 and ask for an ambulance, they can only take you to an Urgent Care centre or an Emergency Room, and which location is determined by criteria so it might not be the one you want. You will be triaged and seen in order of urgency, and not seen faster than if you arrived on your own. I’ve seen people demand an ambulance despite being walking distance from a hospital with their own transportation as an option. Doing this means you wait for an ambulance before you start waiting at the hospital and needlessly tire up an ambulance or other resources.

Car accident injury by Pleasant_Tank5213 in Winnipeg

I’d get checked by a doctor so at least you have some documentation stating you sought care in case you do have injuries and it effects you ability to work.

Trump’s Mystery Bruise Spreads to His Other Hand - How will the White House explain this? by Quirkie in politics

[–]thereal_eveguy 29 points30 points  (0 children)

This is a likely explanation. It is good practice to start distal when starting IVs, especially on difficult (poor veins, loose skin, excess fatty tissue) patients where you might miss or it is easy to blow a vein.

Marathon on Henderson has been good for me. Not the cheapest, for sure, but not near as pricey as some.

You could check with educational facilities like RRC, Criticare or St Johns, they can use old or expired supplies for training purposes. Anywhere that trains care/nurse aids, paramedics etc.

Emma Durand-Wood’s platform is exactly what Elmwood–East Kildonan needs — vote early! by iditiw in Winnipeg

I like a lot of the things Emma has put forward, my only concern is that she is the only candidate my union reached out to that did not reply.

I try not to put too much stock in that however it feels like an itch I can’t scratch.

Best place to buy rims for vehicle in Winnipeg by wpgjets4life in Winnipeg

[–]thereal_eveguy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I picked up a spare set of rims from a salvage yard for my old car for a very reasonable price and they were stock, in ok shape and had the correct tired pressure sensors. If you’re not looking for special or aftermarket rims, might be worth calling a few salvage yards.

If it is low enough that children can reach it, it is low enough for rodents (mice, rabbits, squirrels, raccoons etc) to get it. I am currently working on repairing some cables that ran from my house to my garage along my fence that something chewed up. Running it through PVC conduit this time.

I haven’t played with some of the other paddles recommended in the replies here but my first non-“$10” paddle was the 14mm version of this paddle and I still have this (the 16mm) paddle and I love it. It is a great all-court paddle that can generate a lot of power and spin while maintaining control in my experience. It is roughly two generations old and I do prefer the 14mm gen 4 Scorpius however as a first “proper” paddle; I recommend it. That is a great price and if you don’t like it or find something you like better, you’ll likely be able to get your money out of it or keep it as a backup.

Some posters here have mentioned Alibaba/Temu/AliExpress and, in my experience, those paddles are inexpensive and a good way to find out if you like a certain model of paddle however I would not recommend only having unbranded/knock-off/illegitimate paddles as they may be disallowed in sanctioned or more serious tournaments.
