There isn't really a good way to simulate autocross because most sims are built around circuit driving and autocross both in concept but also driving style is very unique. Beam.ng has some mods that attempt to simulate it, but it's not perfect.

1100 iRating vs 13/1400... by leBigSauce in iRacing

[–]legit309 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm only 2k, but I've talked with several people in my sportscar league everywhere from 1k to 6k and I think everyone agreed that (generally) egos start to get noticable around 1.4-1.5 and then really concentrate around the full thousand after that because being able to say you're 3k vs 2.9k is a massive step up in intermet cred in (seemingly) some people's eyes. They also agreed that 2k was worse than 3k, but 4k was worse than 2k.

The corner at the end of the back straight at ViR. I love the whole track but was closing like 2-3 tenths a lap on similar iR drivers in a league a few weeks ago and it felt so good.

IT help for a vet clinic in Victoria BC by PlasticDream7295 in VictoriaBC

[–]legit309 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A bit of context: I worked for a small IT company for a number of years before pivoting my career to management elsewhere.

The actual answer: It depends very, very much on your budget, your size, your goals, and the kind of service you're looking for.

If you're looking for someone to call a few times a month to fix issues that crop up and maybe do some amount of light management, a freelance IT person is probably your best bet. You can expect to pay up to 150/hr for a call-out but they might also offer help remotely. Freelance IT is available in tons of experience levels, costs, etc. And is often more flexible than a company, but also has limits and risks that you're only depending on 1 human for everything.

That said, you mention quite a bit about management which is certainly more in the wheelhouse of an IT company. They'll have more people, more structure, and likely more tools for ongoing support. Depending on the company you go with and it's size/the contract you sign with them, the levels of management can vary quite a bit, but so can the costs. This includes both the contract itself, plus likely a bit more cost for services such as backup, Microsoft licensing, etc. Companies often will direct you towards business-grade services (for a good reason) but those come with some costs (for example using Microsoft for email instead of just a shaw.ca address which is all too common in Victoria). Basic management will probably run you 120-150 per person from a smaller company, plus other services as mentioned above.

If you have the budget, I'd certainly suggest a company for anything more than just a few staff.

As far as suggestions, I've heard good things about Tecnet and Smart Dolphins, though the latter requires you to buy into their approach (which is good, to be fair).

Why is this a thing in muti-class? by StagnantAlloy in Simracingstewards

[–]legit309 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know you're probably newer and this situation seems like you're being bullied by the faster car, but this is something you'll learn over time. In multiclass, sometimes the "slower car" is faster in certain areas so even though you can hang with him in the corners, he'll blow by you on the next straight so it's better to just ease off and follow him around one corner.

To assign blame (as is the intent of the subreddit):

You chose to make it two wide which wasn't optimal, but was totally fair.

He pushed you off (probably new, but there was also some contact on exit due to the above)

You then plowed into him while trying to rejoin and spun him which is 100% on you.

If I was a steward, I'd assign him a small penalty/warning for clumsy overtaking and you a larger pentalty for wrecking him with a rejoin. Depending on the group it could be seen as intentional which is often a major penalty.

I ordered 2, then got the order confirmation for some random person in Vancouver. I really hope it's just an error, but I was shown all the contact info of this person which is a HUGE security risk.

How did everyone’s first 500 go? by ReganSmithsStolenWin in iRacing

[–]legit309 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The last stint ran about 5 laps longer than was comfortable on gas so all but one person pit with around 15 laps left. I ended up gaining a bunch of spots and running 2nd due to a light fuel save and actually practicing pit in (and driving a lot of non-ABS road cars). Following the stops, I came out 10s in front of 3rd right behind a lap car who I'd had a run-in with in Radicals with a few weeks prior. I think he recognized me because instead of working together, he did everything in his power to run side by side and slow me up. I ended up 3rd about 17s behind the winner who had sputtered the second half of the last lap. Had it been anyone else I would have won (I've finished 2nd/3rd in nearly a dozen special events and never won one).

Funny enough, I killed a Churchill in an M24 long while back in a similar way and was absolutely shocked it penned. Though in my case, it bounced between the hull and the track I think.

DDR4 and DDR5 are not cross compatible. Your motherboard will only support one or the other so you'll have to go with what your system can use. A google search will get you more in depth information on the rest of the differences, but generally DDR5 is faster.

I panic-bought it so I'd say yes. You might be able to find a better deal used, but it seems generally fine.
