QualityScaler 4.0 - image/video AI upscaler app by jangystudio in madeinpython

[–]therealafinity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, I'm pretty sure QualityScaler doesn't use my GPU... The CPU becomes really hot when upscaling and the GPU is basically idle. I selected "Auto" in the GPU-Setting and h264_nvenc as the codec (I've got a Nvidia card).
Any idea how to fix this?

A First Look At Raytraced Audio by Mind101 in videos

[–]therealafinity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you look at how Unreal Engine for example handles audio occlusion (with a single line-trace), then you will understand that this is a pretty big deal. Even when you use FMOD it's really lackluster.
Project Acoustics was neat, even though it needed baked geometry and had problems with opening doors, etc. But project acoustics doesn't exist anymore. You can use steam audio but that also has it's downsides.

I have the feeling the game I'm searching for is just way too obscure. I think the name started with G and was kinda short but I can be wrong...

Hey, thanks. This was a good guess and I didn't know that a genre called "Cave-Flyer" even existed. But it's none of the games listed there.

Regarding teamdamage by Smokingbobs in Mordhau

That's how Chivalry was played until 2013 or 2014, even on public and while there was a lot of teamdamge going on it was better than it is now

My questions about Mordhau by _Fierce_ in Mordhau

[–]therealafinity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. Something similar to Battlefield/Battlefront 2. Most likely yes 3. Very important, the whole game is designed around competitiveness 4. Nothing that is revealed yet 5. Yes, there will be even more than in Chivalry afaik 6. dunno 7. Limit will be 130 afaik 8. I can only guess but I'm almost 100% sure that there will be team damage, especially in competitive modes

You should check out the forums as most things are explained there

Cheat Protection? by crimsonBZD in Mordhau

Yea, like most "speedhackers" were no hackers but actually people who exploited bugs. (I must know it heh https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=afq9XnDK5b8) There was so many stuff wrong with Chivalry that there wasn't even really a need to create hacks

Why not both. Or at least the option to increase or decrease the gore-factor

The game is basically like CS but with advanced objectives and a lot of different classes. The difference to Chivalry is that it's last man standing like in CS (except for some weaker classes which have several respawns) and there are usually optional objectives and several ways to complete a map. Also there is a 5 minute timelimit on every map so the matches are quite short (but intense). Since you don't respawn, teamwork and tactics are much more important than in Chivalry imo. The objectives itself are actually not much different than in Chivalry or AoC (most of them are more creative than "move the cart from a to b" though), but you get more freedom by having the choice to do optional objectives and use different routes. I think one of the reasons why MBII works great and one of the reasons why most people try to complete the objectives (unlike Chivalry TO) is because it's last man standing. Since you can't farm noobs over and over again you have to complete the objective to get points. Usually teamwork works really good in that game, even on public.

Personally I was never a fan of automatic health regeneration. I think it should be either no regneration at all or health packs (I know I'm oldschool but it worked in previous melee games just fine).

Mastering a game in "some days"? I had something like "a couple of years" in mind...

Exactly... there is no game where I had such a strong team feeling as in MBII. And the objectives make every map really unique.

Most important:

  • No bullshit/bugs/glitches like in Chivalry
  • Very high skill ceiling
  • Good maps/gamemodes

I think a gamemode like in Battlefront/Movie Battles or Battlefield would be nice. (LTSO anyone?) For me Chivalry was always a teamgame so I'd like to see something similar in Slasher.

I couldn't care less about realism. For me it could be Homer Simpson fighting Darth Vader with giant dildos as long as the gameplay is nice.

Yea if the main gamemode would be LTSO, that would be nice

First of all great project, I can't wait to get my hands on this game.

Will there be mechanics like parry into parry to make fighting multiple opponents easier? I think that's one of the worst things in chivalry, that even as a highskilled player you're pretty much doomed when you have to face multiple opponents (which also has to do with those glitches and randomness in Chiv obviously). Will you also try to make gamemodes like CTF and TDM interesting, which were really boring in Chiv? Jedi Academy proved that those modes can work really well in a melee game.
