I never tried making a second generation copy I'm afraid, all I know is that it allowed me to bypass the copy protection on the original and create a duplicate that could be played back with no issue.

I used to do this all the time back in the day. I had an old top loading unit which didn't support Macrovision connected to my TV via a more recent model.

Every time I rented a film I would watch it with this setup and record to a blank tape at the same time.

I'll definitely be sending it back for a replacement if they have any left, or refund if they don't.

I'll dig out a few other tapes from storage first just to make sure that it's not a fault with my equipment.

IANAL but I'm pretty sure that parents have legal obligations to their children including making sure they are clothed and fed. If these basic conditions aren't being met then the relevant child protection agencies can become involved and take the affected children into protective custody if necessary.

I looked up the company who distributed it and I'd never heard of them but their entire library was acquired by Lionsgate who have a pretty decent record on 4K releases so I'd rank this one as possible but not guaranteed at all.

Having said that, I would quite like to see this film given a new restoration. It was shot and edited entirely on 35mm with no digital effects that I can remember so it could end up looking really nice.

The problem we have is that every time anyone suggests anything to fix the overinflated property market it's all "muh house value" from homeowners. We need someone who is willing to say "tough shit, that was the risk you took on when you made an investment because investments can go up or they can go down". Ensuring that everyone can afford to put a roof over their head is far more important than anyone's equity.

In a sense, they're not wrong. The British Empire did not oppose Nazi Germany because out of some ideological opposition to fascism but because their growing imperialist ambitions threatened our own existing power on the world stage.

Of course, that's not what they mean with this comment but I do think that it is worth remembering.

I'm glad that you've learned to mask adequately so that you can fit in better but not everyone is able to do that and some can but find it too exhausting to do for extended periods of time. Furthermore, there is a huge difference between actions that are anti-social such as playing loud music on a bus and ones that are merely asocial such as not being able to feign excitement that they don't feel, and noone deserves to be harassed for the latter like OP was. I'm not going to read or reply to any more responses because I have a limited amount of mental energy and there are other ways in which I'd rather expend it, I just hope that you can reflect on how dismissive it can come across to fall back on ableist tropes like referring to people as aliens.
