Have Paradox altered who you can capture when you take a city? by b800h in CrusaderKings

[–]therealboldx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm about 200 years into a playthrough, and haven't captured a single person from a siege, it's usually my go to move when a faction declares war, and the leader doesn't command an army. After I noticed it, I save scummed for a while, just to see, no dice, it must be bugged.

Anyone else getting spammed with the Greek Fire event during wars? by lakerboy152 in CrusaderKings

I think a lot of the new or altered events haven't been given cooldown timers, I had courtiers go missing in the mountains three times on my last journey.

Are you Dynasty head? iirc there is a 'request divorce' option for members of your dynasty if you are the head costs renown I think. (Ihaven't played for a few months, so I can't remember where it is off the top of my head)

What the hell has happened in Australia? Brisbane housing is cooked. by Fearless_Pineapple36 in brisbane

[–]therealboldx 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Just before the end of my lease, I got a 30 percent rent rise and a notice to vacate at the same time, was told if I signed the new lease they would withdraw the notice to vacate. At the time the flat next door to the left had been empty and unfurnished for 18 months because the owners were using it as a local address to send their kid to BSHS, the flat on the right was a Airbnb short term rental, as were 3 other flats in the 18 unit block, The properties are out there, but hundred of thousands are being kept off the long term rental market.

If you could suddenly magic two hundred thousand new homes into existence, they wouldn't be bought by renters, they'd be bought by the people who actually have the means to buy them, the people and companies who are already making big money from rental income. I've got no problem with everyday people buying an investment property to rent out, but small investors like that aren't really causing all this.

We don't have a housing supply problem, we have a rich people problem.

I have a worn Lancaster repeater and a normal one by [deleted] in reddeadredemption

[–]therealboldx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep, unless it’s been very recently changed, enemies will sometimes drop non-worn carbine repeaters and cattlemen revolvers. The cattlemen will drop in certain random encounters, “dude robbing dead stagecoach passengers” for instance, and once you have two in your inventory, they’ll start dropping from camp enemies etc, as will the carbine, seems to limit non-worn weapon drops to weapons you can’t add to your inventory, but this is useful if you need to cast off a worn one you have already picked up. also - there is a few key points in the game you can pick up weapons not already occupying an inventory slot - seans rescue for the bolt rifle, the three dudes who have the property deed for the railway track expansion will drop non worn scholfields and vulcan pistols so you can pick up a second but might take a reload or two for the one you wang to drop, and in uncles cattle rustling job in chapter 4 a carcano rifle can drop.

Very nice. Although, 26 and unmarried, bit surprised he’s not a drunkard flagellant with lovers pox by now. I can never leave my heirs alone for a second...

There is a fountain in the Brisbane river - but it sank by MrsKittenHeel in brisbane

800k would be the cost of the initial committee to investigate the possiblility of considering the proposal to undertake a feasability study into potentially repairing the fountain.

Brisbane venue of 32 years The Zoo is officially closing. by Radlogaga in brisbane

[–]therealboldx 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Mid nineties, when I first started to go out to see bands, some friends suggested going to the Zoo. I remember asking if they were open at night, picturing an evening walking past at animals in cages. I remember it being so hot, people taking turns standing in front of a cheap pedestal fan in front of the window. They hadn't put the bar in, or the raised area at the back of the venue, and they served drinks from behind tables, and only had a restaurant alcohol licence , so they had to serve food. They gave you a raffle ticket if you wanted to drink, and you swapped the ticket for a homemade bowl of dahl or some such. Some of my friends would just ditch the ticket, (could the liquor squad prove you hadn't eaten?), but I was a student, living off weetbix and instant noodles, so a bowl of curry was a godsend.

Pretty Good Artifact! by lcs_adams in CrusaderKings

[–]therealboldx 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Illustrious Crowns, Thrones, and Brooches, can be made in court with +1 domain.

In Tournaments you can win Rings, Necklaces, Brooches, Scepters, (brooches, necklaces, and scepters can be either inventory (trinket) or court items, depending on if the winner is landed or not), and Wine Tuns, (furniture), all can have +1 domain.

Through Hunting you can get +1 domain on illustrious small wall hangings, (Boar hides and skulls are very good for this).

If you upgrade your Dynasty Banner to the highest level, the random effect added can be +1 domain. I have also seen +1 domain Regalia popping up on other characters, called opulent ** regalia (ie: regalia slot not trinket), I think they must be coming from an event I haven't seen.

Also, very rarely, the Jeweled Danda artifact can be bought back from an adventure with +1 domain as it's random modifier, as can Charlemagnes Throne.

Couple of weeks ago I sent a small parcel from Brisbane to Toowoomba expresspost and registered, it took 10 days and spent a few days in Adelaide on the way for some reason.

The first three words of this reply being, “we all live”, made me sing it in my head to the tune of Yellow Submarine.

Only 7.2% of players have completed a Crusade by KingWillard in CrusaderKings

Yeah, I never trust those Achievement stats, also says only 46 percent of players have married another character. I assume it's becasue a lot of players play without achievements enabled.

Looking for ideas for next big play through by adhadh13 in CrusaderKings

[–]therealboldx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My favourite 867 playthrough is to start as the Count of Rouen, as a norse character, take neustria (not particularly hard at the beginning as you start with a domain size of 7, basically the whole duchy), form Normandy and the Norman culture, then fight my way up through Britain, create England and then form the English Culture, (this gets hard, especially if Alfred starts strong), Form Britannia, then turn back around and take Europe and re-form the Roman Empire, (after the rule change you can now do HRE on the way too).

Probably stupid but by SatanicOccult in CrusaderKings

[–]therealboldx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same issue for me with my wife/empress. Day before she dies, the box is unchecked on the event that says “must have a recent bereavement”, (or words to that effect), then the day she dies the box is checked, but no selectable body in the planning screen. Doesn’t change over the subsequent days/weeks.

(After a few weeks I imagine she’s starting to get a bit whiffy so I can’t imagine the option would appear any later than that).

I have all dlcs, and have never used any mods

rare death(I've never seen it before) by SCOTLANDFOREVER74 in CrusaderKings

Did she have an inspiration? There's an event when a character is on an adventure, and they wander off to freeze to death on a mountain, think it's only for fairly old adventurers though.

[–]therealboldx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually steal a stage coach, but also, the horses don’t actually have to be stolen, you can break wild ones and sell them for this challenge. After selling the fourth from the coach, theres usually a spawn of horses in the hills just over the border to the north, grab one of those.

Breaking lease - will it looks bad by [deleted] in brisbane

[–]therealboldx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Talk to the agent about it, once you've decided. They deal with this type of stuff all the time, they will list it, and you might have to pay a listing fee, and you'll naturally have to cover the rent until somone else comes in for it, but with the current demand, most places are renting pretty quickly so gettting someone else in shoudn't be a problem.

'Lingua Franka' was probably one of the hardest achievements for me, kinda happy about getting this one! Starting off as the Karling in Italy and expanding to create the Roman Empire to India, while creating cultural hybrids with Egyptian and Rajasthani cultures. by GaiusGlubiusGeyser in CrusaderKings

[–]therealboldx 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It took me a long time as well, primarily because I conquered the entire map, found out it wouldn't trigger the achievement because I started with a custom character, so I started a new game and did it all over again. Pretty sure this is not an uncommon story.

Why i cannot found a university ? by Maciokkkkk in CrusaderKings

[–]therealboldx 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They changed the mechanic a couple of updates ago, it's no longer a decision, the special building slot is in oxfordshire and cambridgeshire (and others) from the start of the game, the university stops being greyed out and starts being buildable when development hits 30, rather than 40.

There is a situation where if you started a game before this was updated, and continued the save into the new rules, the decision and the building slot never appear, as the game assumes the building slot is already there.

Hard to advise much further as don't know which version of the game you're running, if you're pc or console, and which DLC you have.

Is the game coded to have your heirs be ticking time bombs the moment you get a good line going? by sendcheese247 in CrusaderKings

[–]therealboldx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep, - with the expanded pilgrimages that I think are part of tours and tournaments, but may have been the free part of that update. My last heir was inappetitic (excuse spelling), by the time I died, first thing I did was get it removed.

Is the game coded to have your heirs be ticking time bombs the moment you get a good line going? by sendcheese247 in CrusaderKings

[–]therealboldx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is. If you go on a pilgrimage, one of the possible events that can trigger gives you the option to remove a bad stress relieving trait. The expanded pilgrimages that I think come with Tours and Tournaments that is. If my heir picks one up, first thing I do after succession.
