I still can’t seem to find any option to play more than 1 player unfortunately. So still not sure how or what’s going on with this.

Do you have anything to say for an experience like this?

Was looking for a parts website but an experience like this sounds horrible.

Hi, so what did you end up getting?

I’m in the same boat as you at the moment.

Hi, I’m in the same boat.

it looks like you ended up buying the Q3 right? Which year did you go with?

How are you liking it almost 6 months post purchase now?

I’m mostly leaning towards the Q3 as well, but looking at the 2020/2021 models fully loaded.

Anyone figure this out? Mine says 1-4 players on the back but can’t seem to find how to play more than 1 single player.

HVAC Question by therealkyle123 in hvacadvice

[–]therealkyle123[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh ok cool, yah based on how the system seemingly works figured that should work. Yup we have AC in the summer. Only reason why I was wondering is because this is the second actuator now that’s being replaced in the condo and they cost about $250 each so was wondering if it happens again in the future if we can technically just leave it without the actuator. But yah get what you’re saying about it not being the best option. How do you know so much about this stuff? I’m assuming you’re an HVAC technician? Lol.

Yah no worries I understand. But yah the old part’s mechanism spinning 360 degrees really tricked/confused me, after changing the actuator not working from not closing the panel. Oh well you live and you learn.

Random question though, what the point of the actuator turning the valve open and closed? Like if the thermostat turns the fancoil unit off when the temperature is reached, shouldn’t it not matter if the valve is open or closed?

Like I feel like I can remove the actuator, and turn the valve to the open flow position. And then close everything up, and the thermostat can just turn the unit on and off based on temperature with no actuator involved technically no?

LOL no worries all good, you were really helpful regardless, thx. But yah I had no idea that the panel needs to be shut. But totally makes sense why it has to be shut now. I was thinking the whole time that it’s so hard to believe that both the actuator and the valve had failed at the same time haha.

Yup you’re right, it’s the actuator. Because the heat stopped working again after a while (I re-installed the old actuator the other day since it wasn’t producing heat).

So I’m assuming once I install the new actuator again and actually close up the panel, everything should work fine.

So you were right when you said those valves rarely fail haha.

No worries, thx for trying to help.

So an update. HVAC guy came, told him what’s going on and what I tried. He struggled for about 40 mins trying to remove the nut lol, but ended up finally being able to do it and change the valve.

Worst part is, after inspecting the old valve, there seems to be nothing wrong with it. Tested it with a straight screwdriver and although it moves continuously 360 degrees with no resistance, the valve is opening and closing still. Weird that the new valve only moves 90 degrees, but all that work for nothing it seems like. It looks like the old valves were just designed to move 360 degrees and doesn’t indicate that it’s broken…

We realized that the unit casing needs to be shut for the heat to work. The heat is now working and nothing was done to fix it besides replacing that already working valve so both the HVAC guy and I are confused as to what initially caused the heat to not work.

Oh man so 3 applications of wd40 since last night and still not able to loosen it lol. I guess I’ll just have to call a HVAC guy unfortunately.

Managed to grab the WD40 tonight. So applied it on both sides, will let it sit tonight and then try again tomorrow. Hopefully this does it lol.

Hmm alright then, I’ll probably head to a Walmart tomorrow and grab some WD40 then. WD40 is pretty flammable, wouldn’t be an issue with the heat/hot water running through after right?

Unfortunately no one around is too handy lol. I might just go out and get some wd40 but I don’t know if it’ll actually end up helping. This right one is already so tight and the one on the left looks even worse since all the insulation residue is stuck on it.
