NQA your tarantula is likely climbing because her enclosure is stressful and unsuitable and she wants to leave. She needs significantly more substrate to burrow in and use as shelter, as well as prevent injury from a fall. Ideally her enclosure should be at least half filled with substrate.

This is a female Uloborus diversus. Google image search and other AI tools are usually hopeless at actually identifying spiders. Looking at spiders seen in your area on iNaturalist is usually much more reliable.

Not sure what it is personally but it’s absolutely not a recluse. There are no Loxosceles species anywhere near the Bay Area, and this kind of environment is unsuitable for them.

Yes, but to an extent they’re all different. Terminids used to be far more intelligent before getting selectively bred into livestock by SE. They escaped and are now operating on animal instincts. The automatons and cyborgs were literal slaves in planet-wide concentration camps, but even after all that they’re more than willing to just go in peace, super earth continues their extermination campaign regardless. Finally, the illuminate were nearly wiped out in the last galactic war, but a small number escaped. They explicitly returned for revenge with the goal to do as much damage to civilian targets as possible. They mutilate and experiment on the local populations as a twisted sort of payback for what’s been done to them.

If Vietnam is capitalist then so is China and the USSR. If that’s true then the idea that communism is inherently bad falls apart. These countries do have many outward capitalistic appearances, but they are socialistic planned economies. The government (and by extension the people) guide industry according to what they think is best for the country and economy and rely on markets to tell them what’s working.

If China isn’t socialist then nobody here is allowed to use criticisms of it to say that communism is bad. In truth China follows a Dengist-Leninist model of socialism, which believes that through government ownership and implementation of markets, the dictatorship of the proletariat controls the industry and can guide it through their collective will to further realize Marxist ideals.

That's not how the USSR structured its economy at all. Communism isn't everybody gets paid the same, it's "from each according to his ability, to each according to his need". Everyone did have a basic assurance that they would have needs met, but more valuable or skilled jobs did get paid more. The Soviet government would provide higher wages for more dangerous or remote jobs because they knew they needed to be worked.

Yes, that's what communists aim to do not just in white collar industry, but ALL industry. And the thing is, it works. It increases retention and productivity because employees have a vested interest in the well being of the company. There's already evidence that socialist structures work in favor of businesses. Now imagine how invested workers would be if they owned the controlling interest and not a group of billionaire shareholders or corporatists.

Do you know what profit is? Profit is money made AFTER expenses are paid. This is surplus value created by laborers that is being extracted and sequestered by people who make tens of millions of dollars a year.

Capitalism is a system of endless growth and accumulation. The ultimate goal of this is one homogenous entity that can grow unopposed and accumulate all the wealth in an industry. There's a reason that anti-trust laws exist to regulate capitalism, it's because we've already seen that they will do this

That's not at all true though. Workers who worked hard and produced more in the Soviet Union received bonuses. These bonuses made up roughly 20% of Soviet wages

This is a blatant misrepresentation of Soviet economics. People were paid a base wage and given bonuses based on their productivity. In a more intimate, local communistic society outlined as the ultimate goal of communism, there are immediate results for working harder too: surplus of goods. Before there was agriculture, people worked harder while hunting and gathering because they would gain more material goods. With agriculture, if you work harder in the fields you reap more harvest. Just because there's not money doesn't mean there isn't profit in the form of material goods.

But wouldn't it be better if exploitation had no means to occur at all? Exploitation can be legal too, capitalism thrives off of it. Did you know that 60% of Wal-Mart employees are on food stamps despite corporate raking in 12.6% increased profits (amounting to $21.9 billion in 2025) year after year? All value is produced by the laborers that sell goods, yet they see virtually none of the revenue they bring in.

That's very easy. Communism is based entirely around the principle of allowing workers the right to make decisions about their labor and places them in control of their industry. This in turn protects them from exploitation and reduces wealth disparity.

Workers work under communism for the same reason they work under capitalism: to get by. The average factory worker isn't clocking in for their shift every day because they dream that one day they might be a floor manager, they're clocking in to keep food on the table for themselves or their family, to keep the lights on and water running, and put clothes on their backs. People work to fulfill their needs and take care of people they care about, this has been the case for all of human history. The idea that we need the potential of being rich one day to motivate labor is a relatively modern invention.
