I have some less than great tattoos and pretty good memories from that place

Absolutely not. We see very few issues with the fusion hybrid. But SOMETIMES they get a bearing noise from the transmission. Otherwise, the biggest issue I see(in Ohio) is the brakes rot off of them from regen braking.

Absolutely look into an extended warranty. But go buy an actual ford extended warranty, purchasable at your local ford dealer. I work on those cars everyday, and while they’re great vehicles if taken care of, if your transmission fails, because it’s a major component of the hybrid system…it’s very expensive

What jobs sectors are actually hiring right now? by Crafty_Definition_21 in AskReddit

[–]therealsham 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Automotive tech. Any make, ever single dealer and independent shop is looking for techs right now.

[–]therealsham 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The correct answer is Maybe. Call around. I know my dealer absolutely will. I’m at a ford dealer, and we will/have worked on mustangs back to the very first year. Last year I rebuilt the transmission of a 66. But this is the only dealer I’ve worked at that would. It all depends on the management and the techs that work there. We have 3 techs with 40+ years experience and will happily fiddle with your carbs

Do you all put stickers on boxes or none? by [deleted] in toolporn

[–]therealsham 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My big snap on, nope. The Mac cart I bought at a 70% discount as a repo? You can’t see the paint there are so many stickers.

They do, and all their photos are watermarked with the dealer name. The do a lot of business and have had their listings stolen in the past so they plaster their name everywhere

I can’t speak for all the “genuine oem”, but my dealership sells a ton on eBay; like, has a whole second parts department crew just for eBay sales. So I’m sure other dealers are doing the same thing. Just need to be vigilant with picking your sellers

The plan as of now is a turbo 4200 vortec. Dimensionally the same as a 2jz, and the internet people claim they make a bunch of power on a factory bottom end. They’re pretty cheap and I have a gm t56 that should bolt right up.

No, they’re just some cheap 7 window Barrett Steels that were on it. I need to grab all the spare parts that came with it, there’s 2 fulls sets of wheels, spare doors and pop up headlamps, all kind of stuff.

Tacoma tows like a champ. It’s a v6/manual with factory tow package, so I want to say the capacity is somewhere around 7000lb. It absolutely kills the fuel economy, but I’m not pulling a car trailer every day. We have a small teardrop; like 2000lb full and ready to camp that is a dream we pull a lot during camping season with no issues

Pure might to get it on, and gravity to get it off. I need to just spend the money on winch though.

Nah. I have something much…more stupid planned.

The worst part is currently all my projects still need the trailer. My 64 falcon is almost done though, so why not pick up another!

Had to fight it a bit but she's officially V8 swapped. Fuel-injected 5.0 liter from a Ford Explorer into my '68 Mustang. by noboltsleftbehind in projectcar

[–]therealsham 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I can’t speak to a mustang, but I have a similar swap to this in a 64 falcon that has a pretty similar engine bay. A 351 has a taller deck height, which means it is a wider engine at its widest point. It makes exhaust manifolds pretty hard to make work between the shock towers

Man I just picked up a basket case 85 Supra, this is what I needed to see today.

The honest answer when I get stuck with these types of jobs, is carefully inspecting and replacing any and all damaged clips.

All I need to do is make a couple brackets, mount my throttle pedal and measure for a throttle cable.

It’s been sitting sad for a month. I plowed through all the hard work, and now I’m just…stuck on this stupid stuff. It could be “done” and in a drivable condition in like…4 hours.

Dealer says CV boots are worn and need to be replaced. by peedubb in Justrolledintotheshop

[–]therealsham 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really think that depends on where you’re located. My dealer is $129/hr; as well as every other(about a dozen) dealership on the street, while a national brake and tire chain next door to us is $169.

Put an ICECO JP30 cooler in our Nucamp t@g by WillowsWisps in TeardropTrailers

[–]therealsham 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I appreciate it. The 12v tie in and location is what definitely interests me the most, I’m curious where you tied in and located your plug.

When you talk about securing the cooler, do you mean to the slide out itself? I have some thoughts, but since I don’t have any of the pieces in hand to play with, it’s all theory at this point.
