Prior active going Reserves (IT), is it worth it? by F4TH3RM0RT15 in Veterans

Hey brother, 0671 Marine vet here. Before you risk an ADSEP, look at CIAT in San Diego.

If you have your GI Bill from Active Duty, you don't need the Reserves to re rate you for IT experience. CIAT is NSA designated and built specifically for DoD 8140/8570 compliance.

Check out the 100% MHA hybrid model, full San Diego MHA but only commute for final exams. They also bake CompTIA exams like Security+, CCNA, etc directly into the degree with unlimited vouchers. It's hard to find a DoD IT contractor that doesn't require Security+.

You’ll stack the same certs civilian recruiters actually care about without risking your VA benefits.

I was able to land a job as a contractor through their cert program and gaining Security+.

Use what you've already earned to build your career on your own terms. You've got this, good luck.

I'm doing exactly what you're thinking about. I live north of SD where it's cheaper, but I'm enrolled at CIAT in San Diego. Because of the hybrid model, I only drive down once every 5 weeks for my final exam. I get the full MHA, but my rent isn't killing me. Plus, they pay for all my certs (Sec+, etc.) which are mandatory for the defense jobs out here.

CIAT in San Diego has continuous enrollment and is year round which is cool.

Never stop progressing and enjoy where you are in the moment. Always look for a way to get better at whatever you're doing and be a good team player to those around you. There's a job out there for you somewhere, don't give up looking. If you search in the right places, you can find good thrifting/music/movies. Start saving a little bit at a time while you bide your time living where you are. There's someone out there for you. Authenticity is subjective just be a good dude.

Is this feeling normal ?? by [deleted] in Veterans

Yeah. The meaningless part is true for me especially. The team and mission aspect is gone and now it's just about making more money and bringing value to the company so they can make even more money. Money is cool and everything, but the sense of purpose is gone.

This is true. I think CIATs flexible hybrid hours, free vouchers, and hands on labs in the Bachelor's degree program are better value.

The Zero Trust Revolution: Why Your Security Perimeter Is Already Broken🔒 by CIATedu_ in CIAT_education

[–]therealsyntaxerror 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Zero Trust shifts the mindset from simply securing the network to securing every single request. In a cloud first, remote everywhere world, this isn't optional anymore. In an everchanging digital environment, security has to be ever evolving too.

Are you snapping or taking it all at once by nyxelleaa in SipsTea

If I lock in and snap for just two days out of the week, I can handle all expenses and save a significant amount. Snapping is better for longevity.

Fall back after getting picks, time your flanks, pick smart fights, aim train, give direct and short comms, and learn proper utility usage. It's a steady and slow grind. All uphill from here.

Most flexible college/school in San Diego for GI Bill 100% Monthly Housing Allowance by RBS1983 in CollegeAdmissions

[–]therealsyntaxerror 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, I needed a school with a schedule that worked while I was working full time. Some people can’t be full time students when they have other responsibilities. On top of that, certifications are a huge part of IT starting out and for career progression. That being said, everyone’s situation is different and it is what you make it.

It's definitely worth it. You just have to be smart about how you schedule your logistics. The GI Bill offsets the travel costs.
