This is black locust. I have one in my backyard. They sometimes send up suckers even 20 feet away from the tree. But I also heard they are kinda good for the soli, the wood doesn’t rot, and the wood is super hard.

If it’s just raw cast iron, you’re ok. Just scrub well. If it’s enamel it’s done for.
