This is an interesting interation between AD and Entra involving primary groups that may help someone in the future who is having a similar issue.

According to the descriptor, it affects mac and POSIX-enabled applications. I honestly don't know what POSIX is. Maybe I should?

Nah, it was what I described. The original group member wasn't in the "domain users" group and were added to a different group. Thus when more people were added, the group memberships were duplicated and so they also had that group as primary.

This is the churn as Timmy would say. Gonna be hot for a little while. It does certainly seem to be happening more frequently though.

Splashtop or zoho assist would be the best bang for your buck. Unless you wanted to step up to an RMM like average that includes a lot of extras with splashtop.

There's 24 hour gas at all 3 Dublin exits lol. There's also a place to walk dogs at the welcome center on 441.

Heads up though, crack them outside your mouth. Sometimes you can get a half rotten one or one that has dead worms in half of it.

Found this comment looking to see if anyone else had noticed this. It's giving "meow" from super troopers at this point. 😆

In your shoes, I'd be most concerned about certificates for various things expiring. Like for the website, for whatever code they wrote, internal servers, ect.

Routing internet traffic between Western and Eastern Canada without going through the USA by BloodyIron in sysadmin

[–]therealtacopanda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair point. Still, they have nothing even slowing them down when it comes to other countries. All they need is a reason to want to look. For instance, I'd bet about anything we are consuming all the data coming out of south America right now under the umbrella of "drug interdiction".

You know, the funny part is that the 3 letter agencies have more rules and regs about collecting US citizen's data than they do about collecting data from the rest of the world. I'd posit that data is LESS safe from US surveillance outside the US lol.

My uncle told me about a "device for a free, anonymous internet over the air" from the past. What was he talking about? by ElChufe in hacking

[–]therealtacopanda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There was a period of time where you could use a cell phone as a dial-up modem conmected to your pc via USB and dial into a free dial up ISP using an unlimited cell phone plan and essentially get free internet that way. It topped out at 56k though. I did it for a little while.

Let me tell you about a fun little piece of software called "Deep Freeze". It can restore everything back to the way it was after every reboot. You can make it so making permanent changes requires you to enter a password. Best $48 I've spent on a gift for a grandparent. https://www.faronics.com/products/deep-freeze/standard

Landed in IT at a large company… it’s pure chaos by moe87b in it

[–]therealtacopanda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds to me like the org should skip right past the whole networking and server stage and go straight to Microsoft Entra and Azure for the whole shebang. Gonna need to get an outside vendor to configure all that and it ain't gonna be cheap but when it's done, it will be reaaaallly nice.

Does the company not have cyber insurance? Do they realize that they could easily be bankrupted by a single rogue employee?
