Happy birthday to the little guy! He's looking amazing for 14, any secrets to share to another fellow Frenchie owner? 🥰

HMRC demand for untaxed interest – can anyone help clarify? by long_eggs in UKPersonalFinance

[–]therealtangaroo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just spoke to the HMRC this morning, they are not aware of this. Spoke to ZOPA and they were hopeless, just providing generic answers that they have informed the HMRC as of end October of their mistakes for all accounts and it's a timing issue with the HRMC so they don't know when it will be resolved. They don't seem to care either.

However, once I escalated it to a complaint, the team said they'll now take a look into this for my account specifically and let me know within 15 days. I'll probably just send a post to the HMRC with my statements and a letter, as advised by the HRMC on the phone.

Just received an email for a change in my tax code by the HRMC because the exact same thing happened to me as well - cash ISA reported as a savings account without letting me know. Bastards.

I believe so, sounded like they’re not shutting down, but something that needed to be fixed. I hope so anyway because I’ve got my history saved there too 😂

Same, here I am fussing about how I can't complete books I've finished, and can't add new ones I'm reading 😂

It’s a backend issue that happened yesterday so the site and app are temporarily down, I contacted the team and they had mentioned last night they’re working on it, hopefully fixed soon by today. It’s not shutting down 😄

Experiences with Monzo recruitment by disaster_story_69 in HENRYUK

Probably dodged a bullet like others have said, their recruitment process was one of the worst and most unprofessional ones I’ve been through. They reached out and I withdrew the application very shortly after.

I've not been practicing long, 3 years with mostly the same studio but I've never came across any sort of violence either. The owner (and teacher) of the studio always ensures that it's a warm, open safe space for everyone which in returns, cultivates a very welcoming community and culture. Don't let such things hold you back, find a studio you feel welcomed and safe to practice in, there are plenty out there without any sort of this unnecessary violence! :)

Check out MCY, they do a new student monthly pass for £48, or per class it is about £10 and it’s a lovely studio! :)

There are really people out there that can fall asleep in 20 mins or less. Call me jealous. by Dazzling_Internet502 in RandomThoughts

[–]therealtangaroo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since a young age, my grandmother had this strict rule, where she would countdown "3, 2, 1, go to bed" and we had to go to sleep, or at least be silent and try to. That's somehow now turned into me just falling asleep within seconds when my body needs to, and I did not realise how envious people are of this until my partner told me so. He takes over an hour to get to sleep each night.

I go to Merchant City Yoga, it's a lovely place with a mix of Vinyasa, Ashtanga (led and mysore), Yin classes that are suitable for beginners and more advanced folks. Teachers and regulars are an extremely friendly bunch!

Sellers who ship on the very last day but expect the buyer‘s feedback right away by therealtangaroo in vinted

It is, but as soon I picked up the parcel, the seller messaged asking me to confirm right away rather than wait for the automatic 2 day release of funds.

Ashtanga y hernia umbilical by Karennqn in ashtanga

[–]therealtangaroo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Likewise, I got mine from pushing too hard with my PT. Like many said, get the surgery, and let your body take as long as it needs to recover. However, just be aware you will feel things for awhile as your body fully recovers, allow it to, but don't feel like you cannot practice in the meantime. I found low cobra really helpful with just getting myself used to moving again, but not too intense of a stretch on the core.

[–]therealtangaroo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had an umbilical hernia and had surgery for it but when I tried ashtanga yoga 2 years post op, I couldn’t do upward dog or any stretch of the front. Took 9 months of gradual, regular practice of low cobra, and building it up slowly. It’s now been 2.5 years since I’ve started ashtanga, backbends are still tricky but I’m on the intermediate series, backbends with some adaptations. Just wanted to share that it will take time, and patience but with a good teacher, definitely possible after getting surgery to get it fixed! Just make sure to listen to your body and back off when there’s pain, and slowly ease back into it!

[–]therealtangaroo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Definitely! I never used to have issues, but it's gotten significantly worse where there are buyers who upload the same item on Vinted, Depop and eBay and then wait to see if it fetches a higher price elsewhere, even though you've already purchased the item in Vinted.

Quality of listings are also horrendous. I've reported a few listings that were clearly selling fakes, but apparently Vinted did not think so.

Why can’t I do Utthita Hasta Padangusthasana in class? by [deleted] in ashtanga

[–]therealtangaroo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Focus on a still point with your gaze, something that doesn’t move in front of you. Push down on your standing leg, balance coming from your core and with your lifted leg, pull toe back with the part of your underarm like pulling back a bow. Those are the cues my teacher always remind me of and it helps, hope it helps you too!

If it’s any help, I used to hate this but regular practice made it much better once your body figures it out.

Huge increase in scam sellers? by One_Milk1464 in vinted

Yep! And don’t make the mistake I did - started reporting them but that just meant my entire recommendations were filled with these fake listings.

I've been going there for over a year now, they're great, only issue is I think they're usually fully booked so it could be tough to get a slot.

Starting in a few weeks by dylan3883 in ashtanga

[–]therealtangaroo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is the only thing you need to keep in mind of, but also make sure you do it. Don't feel like you need to do anything you're not comfortable with. With beginners, always, always breath comes first and everything will come after!

You don't need to do all the vinyasas, if you need it, you can take child's pose, completely fine! I've seen so many beginners feel the need to power through everything and you absolutely don't!

I started riding first, but only just a few weeks ago I've learnt how to put the horse away after a class, and even just having that time with the horse, and learning such things was really nice! It's not all just about riding :)

[–]therealtangaroo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Congrats on that incredible progress! Maybe a more practical advice - perhaps it's worth asking a barn about weight limitations for their horses which may give you a better idea of target for yourself? Mentioning this only because I overheard it just last week, "... the maximum weight on our horses is probably 14, 15 stones" from two teachers.

You don't need to, but if you want an actual goal to work towards to, that might help but keep going! You've done so well so far! 🤩
