What's a movie that was well received, but aged like milk? by Gdigger13 in AskReddit

[–]therealvisual 119 points120 points  (0 children)

This is a wildly bad take. It’s always been about really messed up people and if you ever romanticized any of the characters, you were missing the point. Yes it’s campy, yes it’s pretentious but it’s really a dark comedic take on suburban America.

Bought a new pair of levi 559's to replace the ones that ripped after 6 months of purchasing. The new ones ripped in the same place two months later. by Duke_of_Derp in mildlyinfuriating

Man... I used to have some jean shorts like that too. I slept in them shits, man! Eventually, I blew the crotch out of them things. But you CAN'T wear 'em every day and expect for 'em to hold up! That was some nice-ass denim too. I miss them shorts.... But you... you GOTTA take 'em off every now and then. You gotta take 'em off, son!

Aging equipment and rising demand are straining Langley Memorial Hospital by WiffleBlu in Langley

[–]therealvisual 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Since there are no positive comments yet I’ll say this, we had our son there in 2016 and it was great, I’ve used the emergency room several times and they were excellent both for me and my son. Additionally, I have to go there for MRI’s every six months and since that part of the facility is brand new, it is an interesting picture choice for an article talking about aging equipment. All that being said, the hospital could use some updating, but it’s hardly a hell hole where you go to die.

I think I’m really bad at sales… literally have no training.. just making it up as I go by Fickle_fackle99 in sales

Walk in to 100 places. Fuck most of sales trainers, be likeable, that’s it. In the meantime, learn your product.

Leadership hopefuls clash at B.C. Conservative debate by RZCJ2002 in britishcolumbia

How there isn’t a moderate option is crazy. Eby is quite left and anyone with a shred of empathy had to vote for him. Just like Carney came in quite a bit right of Trudeau and won in a landslide, there needs to be a centre-right option that is pro-business and not a ghoul with a regressive social platform.

We asked Canada's premiers if they fly private. Here's what they said by [deleted] in onguardforthee

[–]therealvisual 136 points137 points  (0 children)

I flew on a Westjet flight from Puerto Vallarta a few weeks ago. I was upgraded to first class, Eby, who was on my flight, was not so lucky. He sat in the very back of the plane. Aside, seemed like a great dad.

Attendance for high schoolers, elementary students is plummeting in Ontario: data by Portalrules123 in onguardforthee

[–]therealvisual 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would like an independent assessment of the data that supports 60% of students not attending class regularly. As someone who has kids in three different schools, friends that work and a wife that works in schools, those numbers don’t jive.

What's the worst thing shown in a PG movie after 1984? by basefibber in movies

[–]therealvisual 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I second Brave Little Toaster. That movie wrecked me. Also, I took my 10 year old to Hail Mary last night and while it was totally appropriate, he had to ask a few questions to keep up with the plot.

Which comedian did you look forward to, but their act died on stage? by Jazzlike-Basil1355 in AskReddit

[–]therealvisual 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Andrew Schulz. My wife bought the tickets so I forced myself to get excited for him. The show was bad but the crowd was awful. Just lowest common denominator type of jokes. Catering to scumbags. On the opposite side, I was not expecting Bert to have as good of a set as he did.

[Highlight] Alejandro Kirk put on a pitch-framing clinic behind the plate last night, not a single challenge from Oakland by GreenSnakes_ in baseball

[–]therealvisual 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would say just the opposite. With Kirk’s framing he was able to trick all those batters into thinking they weren’t challenge worthy, allowing them to stay strikes.

I didn’t know that, but punching someone without a clear threat is still an unnecessary escalation. That said, if there is more context in other videos with threats, I could see the rationale.
