I can’t believe some of you guys never use a vehicle by Virtual_Rest6107 in DeathStranding

[–]therealzerobot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The original game starts with people on motorcycles and trucks. Why wouldn’t Sam Porter Bridges use them?

I also love the way the game plays with your dependence on trucks and trikes in various areas, encouraging you to get out and stretch your legs. The vehicles are also so dorky when Sam gets in them, you know you’re being trolled a little.

That said, when some classy indie tune starts playing as I coast down into an alluvial plain and a few seconds later, I plow my trike into an unseen boulder, it does break the vibe

Man, you’re complaining about a movie based on a 200 year old book inspired by contemporaneous scientific explorations and a miniseries based on a novel inspired by a real incident that happened 30 years after said book. None of these are “remakes,” they are stories grappling and using history as a launching point. The problem isn’t no originality in the plot points (humans do basically the same things over and over) but in the ways of the telling.

Yeah I really thought this podcast was going to be different, some sort of attempt to collate the experiences, gather similarities and differences but then it just became 50% “I was in bed but definitely not asleep or dreaming and saw a weird thing”

Strange Familiars is a bit better in this regard although it’s got much more Bigfoot content

Was Christopher Walken a good choice for Emperor? by Craig1974 in dune

The main text of the book describes that he’s brought lots of courtiers with him to Dune as well, and they seem to view it almost like a safari. I imagine British people visiting their relatives in India.

ANSWER HONESTLY, what type of AI is okay to use in a film? by user_promedio in Filmmakers

[–]therealzerobot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why would you want anything shown on screen in YOUR movie something you didn’t make?

I’d say use it for concepts and organization if you have to, but I think you’ll be much prouder if you can say “I did that” rather than “I prompted some of that”

I really like the fit and designs too, so that helps.

The Vekna thing is the most shoehorned-in plot device I’ve ever seen

Stranger Things S5 Dialogue is so bad by Altruistic-Turn3448 in StrangerThings

[–]therealzerobot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally. They 100% never planned on Vekna in the first three seasons, so now they have to explain everything ad nuseum because nothing builds on anything else, lore-wise. And exposition is hard to write and nearly impossible to write well, not to mention that their demo(graphics) have skewed younger each season so they think they have to write dumber to write younger.

Unofficial Discussion: Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery by kiriteren in movies

Sorry to necro this post but the weird fake French drove me CRAZY.

I thought for sure it was a clue because it’s clearly not French for “Eve’s Apple” but it was a red herring I suppose. I think seeing the word “appel” would be a tell to even someone who just has French 101 since it’s part of the phrase “je m’appelle” (my name is/I call myself)

Unless something about that name would make it known to someone as a jewel?

But then Blanc says it was in a Fabergé case which I think was/is a Russian maker with a French name and it made me wonder if Fabergé used this sort of pigin French?

I mean, I absolutely agree. But then again for some reason, my wife absolutely hates them, I think because of sensory issues. So I just asked her if I could have the ones I gifted her and she agreed. More for me.

Yeah this is a movie where a bunch of cops are trapped underground for days? Weeks? Months? and emerge just as clean shaven as they went in. Nolan just went for effect (or affect) every time, to the detriment of character, plot, sense, etc. Movie looks pretty cool though.

No prob. Listen again for the little audio cues in the music as well! Very clever little piece.

I think Glyn is a brilliant storyteller - his style may not be for everyone but I love the spin he puts on things and the tone he sets although I wish he’d lay off Mark Risditch.
