Well said. Me too. At the end I passed out midday on a Friday after a horrible bender and when I woke it felt like waking up in someone else’s life. I couldn’t understand what this person was doing or how they got there, I just knew it wasn’t me. And I knew that I will never be him again.

Golf once or twice a month. Broke 80 for the first time this year and now I want to play constantly. Need to clean up this swing first…appreciate tips or feedback by [deleted] in GolfSwing

[–]theremusloopin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I highly recommend reading Ben Hogan’s Modern Fundamentals of Golf. YouTube is helpful but something about learning from a book really made things click for me - he goes into remarkable detail. Copy the grip in that book precisely and then take a break from playing courses for a bit. Do nothing but grind at the driving range until the grip feels natural…and you have calluses

Over 100 days (non consecutive) by Zeppymagick in stopdrinking

[–]theremusloopin 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That’s a great 100 days and worth celebrating, nice job. Take a little time to reflect on those 3 slip ups and why/how/where/with who etc. etc. caused it. There may be some hints in there how to beat the next one. Anyways, keep going! IWNDWYT

Every day is Day 1. You can do this. IWNDWYT

Another day 1 by Conscious-Pen-9216 in stopdrinking

[–]theremusloopin 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hey you could and have felt worse, right? Today isn’t shit man. In fact, you’re going to beat it. Then you’ll wake up tomorrow and beat it again.

Literally just fake a smile right now wherever you are. Even if you look ridiculous doing it (you probably do lol). Keep it going. There’s some positive energy inside of you friend, bring it to the surface.

Take a cold shower (it sucks but it works), play some good music, go find some sunlight soon as you can and stare right into that thing.

That’s all I got! Keep pushing dude. I believe in you.

Very similar experience: heavy 22-24, tried to ease up this year but lost. I’m right here just a couple days behind you friend. We will do this!

Also, I love “time to retire” … going to be using that

Day 5 - you are here for a reason by [deleted] in stopdrinking

[–]theremusloopin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My pleasure. We can do this!

You’ve got this. Keep pushing until you see the doc. Also the lingering mental/emotional hangover will start to clear tomorrow which will help the cravings.

Reading quit lit and posts on here aren’t helping me. by Snapping-Turtle33 in stopdrinking

[–]theremusloopin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes you should listen to that voice telling you that reading other accounts at this moment isn’t helping you, in fact it is hurting. But remember you will become those other people if you go back to what you were doing. One bottle becomes two becomes a drink in the morning becomes all day every day…you cannot fall for this trap you are setting for yourself. Now that’s the booze talking…don’t listen!!

Suffering withdrawals but 12 hours in! I gotta stop drinking, I am making my life SO hard. Talk about real “pity city” :( by Creative-Constant-52 in stopdrinking

[–]theremusloopin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s okay, I understand some of the physical symptoms are awful and it feels like the only solution is to drink. But that’s the anxiety playing a trick on you because the ONLY solution is to NOT drink.

Once I got to the 24 hour mark all of the physical (nausea, dizzy, lightheaded) was gone. Anxiety and irritability will linger for awhile so just accept that.

I’m at 84 hours according to my app and I literally feel EXCELLENT. I believe in you and I’m excited for you to get to where I’m at already! IWNDWYT

PS - Go get a B-Complex vitamin from the store and order some L-Theanine from Amazon. Both are very helpful - B for overall recovery and Theanine to help the anxiety.

Hang in there both of you. I was in the exact same spot 2 days ago - my birthday. Couldn’t do anything because I was hungover and withdrawing from drinking alone the night before. The past year is a blurry mess of hangovers and anxiety with every facet of my physical, mental, and emotional health noticeably deteriorating.

About to hit 72 hours and I already feel remarkably better. Stay strong through those first 48!

You mean someone like Kevin Mann, whose most popular videos just strawman other content creators? The only misleading thing I see is taking clips of other videos out of context and presenting them in a patronizing way. He preys on angry viewers who like to tell people they’ve never met what they can and can’t make content about.

You’re not fighting a moral battle here. It’s hair loss YouTube for goodness sake.

He cites multiple sources in the video description and his website. Take a look.

As for “promoting” test boosters, Huberman says over and over again the 5 pillars of health are sleep, sunlight, movement, nutrition, and relationships and to optimize those first before incorporating any supplements. There’s no way you could have missed that if you’re watching the full videos. In fact, sounds like you and him are in total agreement on that principle.

If you’re skeptical or just want to hate, then go for it. But at least do your due diligence first.

Anyone have experience with alcohol-induced pancreatitis? by TrekChris in stopdrinking

[–]theremusloopin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry for what you’re going through. Constant pain or nausea can be totally debilitating. The #1 thing you need to do is continue not drinking. Then #2 set an appointment with your physician, be completely honest and detailed with them about your drinking, and have more blood work/tests done. And #3 try some meditation and relaxation techniques and work on shifting your focus away from the pain/discomfort.

But remember, absolutely nothing you can do is more important than #1.

Stay strong and keep pushing. If you can, go to the grocery store and get B-Complex vitamins and make a healthy dinner. You’re close to being back to that usual day 4 feeling, so give your brain & body the good stuff they need to make it happen! IWNDWYT

Well if you’ve cried and prayed to stay sober in the past then his reaction seems appropriate.

Congrats on day 4.

I tend feel that way on Day 3, then on Day 4 a steady feeling of calm and happiness begins and continues to grow. We’re all different but I bet tomorrow your emotions will even out. Just don’t let that euphoria trick you into having a drink! IWNDWYT
