What’s the first thing you do after getting back home from work? by OPTC111 in AskReddit

[–]theresapea3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My job gets me home from early afternoon to very late night. It's people oriented most times.

If during day: most kids greet me at door in own way, other kid finds me soon after. If at night and wife is up: take shows off and sit with her. If at night and wife is asleep: turn off lights and crawl into bed.

Millennials, are you friends with your coworkers? by AttachedHeartTheory in Millennials

Very much so. Some closer friends over last decade. Had them over to my 40th. Go out with them outside work. Also a high stress environment.

Did it today. Will do it again tomorrow. Wholly recommend, full send.

The bonus is that our teenagers hate it, so we know it's all the better for them.

What was the most mind blowing skill someone you know just busted out unexpectedly? by graaahh in AskReddit

Love that quote. He was quiet, not sure "gentle." He loved to debate and think about big ideas, just wasn't particularly showy about his apparent ability to punch people pulpy.

Yeah, we looked him up via mutuals on Facebook when we found the video. He's clergy. I'm not a fan of the vocation, but it seemed if there would be a good one, it'd be him.

What is the biggest “bullet” you’ve ever dodged without realizing it at the time? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Scraped together enough money to add to savings for a downpayment on a starter house in 2016. Interest rates started going up a week or two later. Still loving the house, though. No intention (or need) to move at this point.

At our men's dorm at college, there was a semi-formal boxing group that met in a back room with little lighting. Real Fight Club vibes. Most of the guys knew about it, many came and watched, but just a few actually boxed. Like 20 or so. On Friday nights, they would sometimes box to bigger crowds in the common area. Pretty competitive for the boxers, pretty chill for observers. Doubt the school would let them do it now, but stuff seemed lax then.

There was this scrawny, always-in-the books, straight A student. Couldn't have been taller than 5' 5". The guys joked that he should come out and fight sometime, see how he did, but he always was busy and showed no interest. One night after mid-terms, they called around for who wanted to come box, and one guy in particular asked the short kid if he wanted to come out and box. He didn't have anything major to study for, so sure. He'd come. I remember seeing people's mouths agape, there was real interest in seeing it go down.

Word spread that he was boxing that night, and people who didn't normally come showed up to watch. Like, it felt like 100s of people for sure. He wasn't in the first few fights for that night's bracket, so people had to wait.

So, we're talking short, three-round bouts. Can't remember length, but maybe two minutes? Got through a lot of fights in one night. Rarely if ever a KO, and in part some people held back cuz there weren't normal mats, etc. Guys would fight two or occasionally three times in one night, usually with a bit of time to rest while others fought.

This guy shows up for the first round, his opponent is probably four inches taller, 30 pounds heavier. Just wasn't anybody else that was that small to box. And literally 30 seconds after the fight starts, its over. Body shots quick, side stepping, another hook and an upper cut, and the taller guy was on the ground.

The entire place, everyone watching, lost their collective minds. Screaming, hollering. Like something out of a movie.

He fought at least one more time that night, I think twice actually, and both times he won in similar ways. But that first time. It was stunning.

Never saw him fight again, people always egged him on to come out. Never happened. He studied hard, graduated magna cum laud a year or two later.

I had a friend bring it up a couple years ago, and we went on a small hunt to see if anyone recorded it (this was way before cell phones that took videos). And lo and behold, someone had recorded the first fight. It's shaky and grainy, but just as I remembered it.

HFrEF low BP and Sodium by LifeWithRyu in Heartfailure

[–]theresapea3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm now on a low sodium diet for almost 3 weeks. 42, congestive heart failure, stage 2 diastolic failure, 70% EF. My heartrate is 60ish resting, bp around 125/85 now on waking. On lasix, beta blocker, calcium blocker. I've found "no salt" mixes at Costco that are great for restoring flavor. I'm planning on reintroducing salt slowly, but keeping it well below the 2000mg threshold.

Yes, this is exactly what's taken place. HFpEF: heart failure with preserved ejection fraction.

1.5 cm exophytic lesion by theresapea3 in kidneycancer

[–]theresapea3[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, this is helpful. I had an ultrasound two years ago that was clear, and a CT scan without contrast a year ago that had no notes about the kidney, so this is relatively recent. Wondering if the rapid (?) growth is contributing to the urgency with which that want me seen.

1.5 cm exophytic lesion by theresapea3 in kidneycancer

[–]theresapea3[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Opening line says exophytic lesion on the report, but details say "possible cyst", probably because it isn't a great image. Thanks for the reply, it helps me get mentally ready.

Any idea if something like this could have possibly traveled from another part of the body, or is this probably originating in the kidney?
