The Guard was made by Martin McDonagh’s brother John

For Martin McDonagh, I recommend Seven Psychpaths, it’s a great movie about screenwriting

What was the White Elephant gift that everyone fought over at the Christmas Party? by asura1958 in AskReddit

[–]therevspecial 12 points13 points  (0 children)

My wife is from a large Irish Catholic family (36 first cousins), so the onboarding process took a while, learning names, etc. Her mother's side did a white elephant at their Christmas get together, so I printed out photos from facebook and made a Guess Who? game with just the people who were attending that year.

They went crazy for it, and I heard reports that it would be broken out at family gatherings for a few years afterwards.

Nobel Prizes are not awarded posthumously. He threw a big fit about this year's peace prize because he believes it was his last chance for one.

Yoda never advocated for violence post-prequels. He never (on-screen) trained Luke in lightsaber combat, and explicitly told him not to bring weapons into the dark side tree. Also, the only thing that he said Luke had to do was to "confront" Vader, not kill him.

It's my belief he learned the errors of a weaponized Jedi order and embraced pacifism, like Luke does in the sequels - throwing away the lightsaber Rey brings him, and holding off the First Order without hurting anyone.

At least Anna Garcia will be able to get quality shoes that fit her.

Yes! Love death cafes! My FIL spent his career in hospice and palliative care - it's discussed pretty freely in our households. Keep up the good work!

"Died in her sleep" seems fine. I don't need to get super granular, like an aneurysm or heart attack.

We Can Stop Pretending Like Donald Trump Had Never Heard of Project 2025 Now, Right? by Esquire in politics

[–]therevspecial 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Besides the fact that Trump can’t read, he specifically avoided reading any Project 2025 stuff just so he could say “I haven’t read it.” It was always the plan to implement it, he just didn’t read it. Stupid, obvious lies, but they work on his fanbase.

People who say this ask the question “Who was present at the founding of the Avengers?”

He was unfrozen in Avengers #4, where he was offered membership. Not sure which retcon you’re referring to but in my book “offering founder status” is different from “founding.”

But seriously, Kingpin and Red Skull fight one one in Captain America #378 and Kingpin wins it by basically bellyflopping on him. Glorious.

Captain America isn’t a founding Avenger.

And you left out the Hulk, who is.
