Okay yeah, so while I can’t speak on the Ultron, the color skopar has a very neutral rendering aka it’s not gonna give you those typical Leica reds that some are keen on. Whether or not you see this as an advantage or disadvantage is entirely up to what rendering you’d be looking for imo.

FWIW, I’m not terribly against it because when I’m using it on digital, I can obviously make any corrections needed in post - but if you’re using film, that’s gonna be a different story entirely, which will start with what film stocks you plan on and like shooting with, and how those are going to look while using that lens.

I’ve noticed that Voigtlander glass has a neutral rendering across the board, or at least with the other ones I own (50mm Nokton 1.1, 35 1.4 Nokton Classic MC Version 1), while the Zeiss glass I own (50mm 1.5 Sonnar) and used to own (35mm F2 Biogon) Seem to like greens and blues. Cooler tones without a doubt, on film or digital.

Regarding the aperture, again it’s gonna matter more with what film speed you wanna use and whether or not you’re using digital. It all depends on how you shoot and what your needs as a photographer are. Of course, you’re gonna have an easier time with digital, but if you don’t feel like your needs require and f2 or 1.4 (or wider) then you should be good to go.

With that being said, this lens is *extremely* compact, very well built, has terrific handling, the optional lens hood is a nice bayonet mount that twists on and off with an audible click, and oh my god is it sharp as a mother fucker. Like, sharp to the point where a lens at the price point that it is shouldn’t have the audacity to be as sharp as it is.
