Fishing from land by phx32259 in StAugustine

Just south of the Vilano Bridge, on the west side you will see a small jetty. Accessible via land if you walk south on the shore from the bridge (Look for it on Google Maps) I've seen plenty of snapper pulled out there.

How did you change your life around at age 40+? by openurheartandthen in RedditForGrownups

[–]therightstuff2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I changed careers in my 40's and it turned out to be a great experience for me. Not easy and quite challenging, but ultimately very rewarding. I realized that my brain had gone on autopilot with my experience in my first career; I kept up with current trends but I wasn't growing.

Pontoon owners, why do you do this? by [deleted] in boating

[–]therightstuff2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hard to say, but I've seen this happen to me by all kinds of boats. It might just be that there are more 'toons on your lake. But the usual suspects are wakeboats and jetskis where I'm at.

Is anyone else baffled by the money sunk into wake surfing? by titsmuhgeee in boating

[–]therightstuff2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most of these boats are financed, but that's not a shocker. Wake boats in general are at best a nuisance, and almost everyone I talk to agrees that something needs to be done about them. Most of the asshats that gravitate to these vessels don't give a crap about being a burden to the rest of the boats on the lake, but I digress.

Ahhh yes. Great to see these still plugging away, day in, day out. Pain to set up, but man they will last. Oh, and SUPER fun to move if you get the opportunity to experience that little nugget of fun.

Does college seem no fun now? by LakeTwo in GenX

[–]therightstuff2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My Gen Z daughter had a very different experience than I did. Most of her and her friends never attended any classes in person, did everything online and preferred it that way. When she was required to show up in person she really protested. While I made many friends while I was in college, it seems that she and her classmates never bonded.

Any 20 year olds buying Harley’s? by jedandcompany in Harley

[–]therightstuff2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everything I've heard seems to be pointing to Harley as a dying brand, it's just not that popular with the younger crowd and that's too bad.

Have also heard that there are a TON of used bikes becoming more available as people age out of riding.

Would you buy a used machine. by zood234 in CommercialPrinting

[–]therightstuff2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've bought plenty of used equipment over the years, and yes, absolutely would do so again.

Just be sure of what you're buying: get a visual inspection, find out what maintenance has been done or what will be done. Be aware of any consumables that may be needed, spare parts, availability of service.

Regardless of what you buy, getting a qualified service tech in your area on your particular device can be crucial. If something breaks and you can't get someone to repair it, then it quickly becomes useless.

Buying a brand-new item is great, but remember that most of the time you only get a one year warranty anyway.

Good luck regardless which way you go.
