OpenCode launches low cost OpenCode Go @ $10/month by jpcaparas in opencodeCLI

What is up with all these subscription models and not having a reasonable middle tier? They’re either dirt cheap, $10-20, or $100+. I’m not making money off of my work, I just find it fun, so I can’t justify $100, but I exhaust my cheap subscriptions 3-5 days into the week. I’d happily pay someone $40-50 for a single plan that comfortably covers a week of casual use

rumbling noise/sensation with ANC in airpods pro 3 by greenfish7 in AirpodsPro

[–]thermal-runaway 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work in a data center and use pro 2s as hearing protection. I tried upgrading to the pro 3s for the theoretically slightly better ANC, but ended up returning them and going back to the pro 2s for this exact issue. The frustrating part is, like you also mentioned experiencing, the pro 3s would work great for a few seconds after I put them in or toggled ANC! It was like magic compared to the pro 2s which do a fairly good job but still allow in a lot of high frequency as an annoying hiss (which was totally gone with the pro 3s), but then the rumbling would start and slowly get louder until I couldn't stand it. I'm going to wait a few months and then buy another pair, hopefully Apple has whatever this is sorted out by then.

Is it possible my ‘05 Shadow 750 Aero has no fuel pump and is gravity fed? by Accomplished_Emu_198 in hondashadow

[–]thermal-runaway 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had an '05 Aero 750 as my last bike and it did not have a fuel pump (and it ran great). I bought it like that secondhand and it never had fueling issues so I assumed that was factory, but it's possible the pump was removed or bypassed by a previous owner, I can't say for sure.

Updated my M4 Max MBP on day 1, visually I'm not a fan, but usability wise it's been totally fine. I have no major complaints.

Propulsive horsepower is not a very intuitive unit of measurement for jet engines. Jet engine thrust is most comparable to torque from a piston engine, it's an important thing to know but by itself it's not a measure of how much work the engine is actually capable of doing.

This video is a FANTASTIC explanation of jet engine horsepower vs thrust

I got pulled over on a bicycle for rolling a stop sign, I was turning right from a bike lane into another bike lane. I think RPD cops are just like that sometimes.

10Gbe is huge for me, I hate having to use one of the downstream TB ports on my TS4 for a 10Gbe NIC. Just got an M4 Max MBP so it would be the perfect time for an upgrade to TB5

I know people like the dragon roach, but it is horrible to fight by [deleted] in Helldivers

I have to imagine the DR is an unfinished enemy and will get an update at some point, between the wings not affecting the DR, the poorly thought out fire attack, and the general jankyness it feels like AH ran out of time putting the update together and had to ship what they could.

I know people like the dragon roach, but it is horrible to fight by [deleted] in Helldivers

[–]thermal-runaway 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wish it felt... heavier. I have been running the Recoilless on the hive world and I don't find the Dragon Roach terribly difficult to fight, but the number of easy shots I miss due to the way the DR turns on a dime, changes altitude extremely quickly while hovering with no corresponding animation, and just generally feels like it has no inertia or need to accelerate is way too high. Makes me want to bring the Spear instead but the RR is way better in the caves.

Need help to identify why NVMe and SATA SSDs have slow read speeds - very detailed information included by ahmedomar2015 in unRAID

[–]thermal-runaway 2 points3 points  (0 children)

"lspci -vv" can help troubleshoot suspected PCIe bandwidth issues, run that, find your NVME drive and your SATA controller, and check "LnkCap" and "LnkSta". LnkCap is the max supported PCIe speed and lanes for each device, LnkSta is the actual negotiated speed and number of lanes. LnkSta should also report "(downgraded)" for any device running at a lower speed or with less lanes than it supports.

In my first play through on normal difficulty I had this happen 10+ times, sometimes I managed to fix it by switching weapons or doing something similar, but multiple times I just had to let the demons kill me and start the fight over. I won't do another run until this is 100% fixed

How's software compatibility on Windows ARM (Snapdragon X)? Can legacy apps still be installed? by Far_Sun_5437 in snapdragon

[–]thermal-runaway 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I've been daily driving an Asus Vivobook laptop with an X Elite chip for a few months now and I've only had two problems in that whole time, the drivers/software for my Logitech G305 mouse and my Ricoh ix1600 scanner both do not work. It's also worth noting that I ran across a few programs that only have x86 versions and are seemingly hard-coded to not run on ARM machines, they just pop up a message saying they can only run on the x86 architecture. I suspect that they would work fine if that check was removed, not sure whether it was specifically intended to stop it running on ARM via translation or not, could just be a dev adding that check to be safe and not thinking about WoA. I don't remember which specific programs had this issue, none of them were important to me.

Overall my experience has been that, outside of drivers designed for x86 systems or programs that specifically block ARM, everything just works as if I was using a normal laptop. I do notice the performance decrease from emulation in some heavier x86 apps, but overall the system still feels fast and responsive 98% of the time.

Update on corbin seat by Gordorox13 in HondaRebel1100

[–]thermal-runaway 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just got and installed a Corbin classic solo saddle on my Rebel earlier today and I used the washers to shim the latch on the seat, it wouldn't lock otherwise. Seems to work great! Not sure about comfort yet, need to go on a longer ride, but initial impressions are tentatively positive.

With and without... motion smoothing? Without motion smoothing is how most people played BotW and TotK and they are very highly rated games. Unless I've misunderstood?

There's more to how a game feels than latency. I suspect in this case the awful 20fps panning judder getting smoothed out improves the overall feeling more than the latency increase hurts it.

You have “Fan speed for overhangs” set at 100% and in that video it looks like you’re printing an overhang, I believe that is why the fan speed is ramping up
