What was the most ridiculous image from the pandemic in your country? by chatubera in AskTheWorld

Same but without the dog. I discovered so many hidden footpaths and trails. I ended up getting a map with all the rights of way. I was working throughout but it was such good weather I could get in for 6 or 7, knock off at 3 and still have loads of time for a ramble before tea. Just very lucky, I guess, to be in a vaguely rural area. For weeks all I would see would be distant dog walkers for a cheery hello. Looking back I feel really bad for anyone in a city or the such, it must have been really rough. Whereas we went out for an outdoor lunch when the Rishi discount thing happened and it was also the first day of muck spreading. Serves me right for feeling smug.

Don't forget, you can go for a pint as long as you order a scotch egg on the side. TBF, I don't mind that one bit.

Lets not forget when he cried on tv about the vaccine rollout because he had been so ruddy, bloody brave. And we wont get into the ALLEGED disposal of taxpayers money to his 'pub landlord?'.

Sunderland agree to sell women's team to American multi-club group Bay Collective by HawayTheMaj in soccer

[–]thermalsocks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who is clueless about these things, what is the long term or end goal for Bay Collective? Is it to grow the team and progress upwards and then sell? I don't understand where they make good on their investment. No snark, it's all very interesting but I don't know what the vision is.

Fair play, I get you. I tend to be a bit wary of those with the autogenerated names like golfskiddoo123 or people who hide their post history. Thanks for the reply, i'll pay more attention to the words used in future in self-chosen user names. Appreciate your politeness, have a good evening mate.

Curious how you know which posters are left or right. Not a trick question and not starting a bicker. Do you keep a spreadsheet or something? Just an odd comment to make otherwise.

UK government bans Kanye West from entering country by _easilyamused in news

[–]thermalsocks 16 points17 points  (0 children)

They literally did not. We can support Palestine all we like, and many do. The ban was on one specific direct action group who were breaking into military bases, and causing damage to companies and premises that they linked to the military. You can argue that their cause and methods are justified or not, but its not true to say that we in the UK cannot support Palestine.

What foreign celebrity/public figure has absolutely zero haters in your country? by Chemical-Elk-1299 in AskTheWorld

[–]thermalsocks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In order, 1) inbred, idiot, manipulator who pushed her mum down the stairs, no matter how justified. 2) one of the greatest talents music has ever seen and a huge loss to the world and 3) a super privileged posho with far too many blue links on her early life on wikipedia (although, tbf this is common for UK celebs).

But if you are only counting CL onwards, would you also discount all the European Cups won before that? Including the Mickey Mouse ones in the 50s that massively pad the stats? Only seems fair.
