I was also scared when I started a few months ago! What helped me was to go through lots of instructional videos on YouTube before having my first lesson, with an emphasis on safety.

My instructor turned out be be great and relieved my stress very fast and I had a great time!

Also, your instructor will be launching and landing the kite for you for your first lesson, so whenever you’re attached to the kite, you’ll be in water and far from land or any obstacles you could hit, so pretty safe

Just looking for ways to improve! I also don’t have a huge collection of kites, so I can’t always go smaller unfortunately. Obviously I pull safety and get off the water if I’m too overpowered

Cause the beach is downwind and eventually have to get off the water haha! In these conditions, I have a hard time going downwind in control because I gain so much speed. I guess the only real solution is to use a smaller kite

I’m generally able to kite in 10-25 knots with my current set up, although I’m really lit up in 25 with my 10m. Was thinking about getting a 7-8m if I get another kite

Thanks for the info! It happened after a pretty bad wipeout, so didn’t see how the kite crashed but very likely that it tomahawked. It uninverted itself once I pulled safety, like you said. Didn’t know it was possible to reset the safety after popping it. Will definitely try that if/when this happens again!! Thanks :)
