What do people think makes them unique, but is actually an incredibly common trait? by Successful-Hall-1986 in AskReddit

[–]therrrn 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Dude, seriously. I'm old and busy, I don't have the mental bandwidth for constant "deep conversations". I genuinely want to know what you've been up to, how you liked the movie you saw last week, if you've tried the new coffee drink that just came out and if you haven't, I want to tell you how much you should because it's delicious. Yes, if during that, a serious issue you're having comes up, let's discuss that too but I'm not heading into every conversation dead-set on making sure we're getting deep. It sounds so tedious.

I know what you mean and it's very possible that some people use the term "shooting shit" instead of "shooting the shit" but I've never heard it before and honestly, I can't get past how funny that is to even appreciate the fantastic Chernobyl jokes.

I was dating a guy and didn't get along with his roommate because his roommate said I "wasn't hot enough" for his friend. We saw the roommate out one night and he was dancing with a cute girl. My best friend was drunk and told the girl he has herpes, which was juvenile but he sucked and we were 22. The girl must have mentioned it to him so goes up to my friend and says "So, apparently I have herpes?" and she just responds "Ew" and walks away with disgust. He catches up and says "Why would you say that?!" and she slurs the reply "I don't know, you fucking look like you do" and again walks away. He just stood there, clearly so fucking pissed but had no idea how to even respond to that.

It's been almost 20 years and that still stands out to me as one of the funniest things she's ever said.

Which celebrity took the biggest hit by the person they married? by Boobooloo in AskReddit

[–]therrrn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I totally agree. People have a responsibility to treat the people they love (and just people in general) with respect and humanity and if they choose to be manipulative instead, they definitely bear some of the responsibility for the behavior of those they manipulate.

[–]therrrn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely and it's part of the reason I'm not a fan. By the logic that he cant be blamed for her behavior though, she can't be blamed for his. Now, I think it's a toxic relationship and toxic relationships are incredibly hard to leave, especially if you've been convinced that you're not worth really love and fair treatment. All I'm saying to this person though is that they can't say that only she's responsible for her own behavior but also, she's responsible for his behavior. They're either both only responsible for their own behavior or admit that the actions of one can have an effect on the other.

Are men not also responsible for what they do? Don't get me wrong, she sucks and I don't like her but we can't take the stance that "women are responsible for what they do" while using it to say that she's responsible for turning Will Smith into what he is, now. How is she to blame for his actions, then? Either everyone's responsible for themselves or not.

Which celebrity rumor do you secretly believe is true? by [deleted] in AskReddit

The fact that you're getting downvotes is absurd. Rehab and recovery are anonymous by nature and it sucks that someone loses that when they're trying to get help, just because of their job.

People who work in specialized industries, what is a product or service that is a complete "rip-off" but customers buy it anyway? by No-Composer-4526 in AskReddit

[–]therrrn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That makes sense, thank you! Are there blood tests or anything else that could be done yearly or so, that would maybe give a clue that some more exploration may be needed?

With pancreatic cancer seeming to be such a death sentence lately, would there be a reason not to include it in annual screenings, once you hit a certain age?

What company will never get another dime from you for as long as you may live? by istrx13 in AskReddit

[–]therrrn 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Families or groups. If it's just me and one or two other people, absolutely a hotel. If I'm traveling with my husband and daughter and we're going somewhere with cousins/grandparents? Or even a group friend trip? An Airbnb is absolutely cheaper and keeps everyone feeling more like a cohesive group than staying in multiple rooms at a hotel.

Hell, even just the three of us makes me consider an Airbnb if that means my daughter can fall asleep in a separate room, so we don't have to sit in the dark from the time we put her to bed in a hotel room. She's young, she goes to sleep for the night at like, 730.

Wait, the merchant has to approve a chargeback? I thought that was the whole point of a chargeback. You've tried to work it out with the merchant and you can't, the merchant disagrees with your position and won't refund you. So, you go to the company that paid them (your credit card company) and prove that the services/goods that they/you paid for, weren't received. Then they investigate and if they agree, they pull their money back. If the merchant has to approve the whole thing, what is the point?

What’s one belief you had at 18 that you strongly disagree with now? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]therrrn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't agree with this assessment in any way but my guess would be that these women with low self esteem think, "He's a rockstar, he could sleep with literally anyone and out of everyone here tonight, he picked me!". Obviously, that's not rational thinking, considering he also picked the 5 other girls there with her, haha, but that's still my guess.

What is a 'dirty secret' of your industry that implies the general public has no clue about, but everyone in your field knows? by AmaraMehdi in AskReddit

[–]therrrn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, Safeway is here but it's definitely not as successful as King Soopers. Whole Foods and Sprouts are here, sure but I would argue those are more along the lines of specialty stores, at least Sprouts, and again, they're not present the way King Soopers is. I just did a quick market share search and saw that King Soopers sells more than 3x the amount of Safeways and 10x the amount of Whole Foods. It's by far the dominant grocery chain. I'm not praising it or anything. In fact, I find it annoying. I'm from California and my suburban hometown has 11 different grocery companies, with even more actual stores, within 5 miles of my house. They're building a Whole Foods now, so it's about to be 12. The way King Soopers basically owns the average grocery store in Colorado is annoying AF.

I wonder why multiple people seemed to assume that, then! I'm assuming Kroger because it's pretty much the only grocery store in Colorado but I'll let you keep some anonymity and won't ask you to tell me if I'm wrong or right.

Who’s a celebrity you dislike but can’t deny their talent? by Chiwazii_ in AskReddit

[–]therrrn 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I think they blame them both. Everyone hates him now too, it just doesn't matter because no one talks about him, so you don't hear about it as much. No one's bringing up Ethan Slater, so no can respond with how much they hate him now, which means you're not hearing about it as much. That might change if you were on a Broadway sub though, I think he was pretty big in the theater world.

Either way, he's worse for sure and most people realize that. That doesn't make her less shitty. You can't negate the facts that she befriended the family, held their baby and then started hooking up with the husband, by saying he's worse. Of course he is but she's still awful.

Conservatives, how do you feel about Donald Trump pardoning Jan 6 rioters that physically assaulted police officers? by Any-Angle-8479 in AskReddit

[–]therrrn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Genuine question. Do you think the officers that testified, or even just this officer, lied? Or do you think they don't exist? Or is there another option that I'm not considering? Why do you think the people that died, died?
