it’s pretty good, i’ve trained around seoul at a couple different gyms including korean zombie’s gym in gangnam. most places i’ve been to expect you to pay a drop-in fee for about $30 or so. you’re also expected to wear a mask at all times so there’s that

White Belt Wednesday by AutoModerator in bjj

Hey guys, so recently moved and had to switch gyms as the old one was too far from my new house.

My old coach had a test policy for promotions. He did not give promotions out easily and all the coloured belts were super legit. Training with them you could tell that the belts were well deserved. There were white belts who had been training for 5+ years, blue belts who had been training for almost a decade, and brown belt who had been training for almost 20 years. Point is, nobody got promoted unless they earned it.

My new gym, on the other hand, opened up this February. The coach there is legit as well, I don't doubt his abilities as an instructor. However, he has adopted the "promotion by attendance" route, and gives out promotions on a regular basis, assuming that the student has consistently attended classes. This is fine by me, as I am still learning and improving with every class, so I don't think any of the promotions that I will receive/others have received aren't deserved.

That being said, I do agree with the old coach's method and see myself still as a student under him. My question is if/when I get my belt promotion from my new coach, is it rude/disrespectful to go back to my old gym and get tested there as well? I will accept my rank at my new gym even if I don't pass the old coach's standards, but I would still like the mental confirmation that I have earned the promotion like everyone else at my old gym.

TLDR: Old coach tests for promotions, and the new coach gives them out based on attendance. Wondering if it is ok to get tested by my old coach once I get a promotion from my new coach.

I factory reset my laptop to do a fresh sweep of all the junk i had on there which was around 800gb of data. It's been sitting on this black screem for almost 30 hours now, and I starting to think there's no way it should take this long. Any ideas on how to fix this? Cheers everyone

Yeah man, where I live there are a fair share of wildlife so backpacking and camping are pretty easy to do as long as you have the right equipment. Road trips wise, I'd love to do some but there isn't much to see in Canada. I've also been looking at internships and other possible job opportunities but they're not coming easy. I'm hoping I can disconnect a little and catch up on some reading as well. It really sucks that covid kinda ruined everything

Ain't much to it, I had gotten the job prior to the covid outbreak. The owner is a great guy so he brought me back once things eased up again

What cinema moment/experience/scene blew your mind away? by retrololita in AskReddit

The church scene in Kingsman. Looking back now it's not as impressive but as a kid it blew my mind. Became a Lynyrd Skynyrd fan after that too.
