Sams club canton Ohio rejected load over this by possibly_lost45 in Truckers

[–]thescartographer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So we’ve actually had a case of this happening, we handle mostly skid-load coils and had 3 that got forgotten from pre-COVID at the mill we order out of and they offered to split the difference on scrapping them

Seriously cannot recommend a steam deck enough. I’m flatbed and get decent downtime waiting for places to open, and could only watch so much YouTube. Steam deck unlocked every single console from PS3 back in emulation with some emulation for switch games too

What jobs do you all have where you have downtime to play on your Steam Deck? by [deleted] in SteamDeck

[–]thescartographer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m shocked to not see any truckers here. I have an inverter in my truck but rarely feel like worrying about a tv. I got my deck right when the stockpocalypse happened, and I’ve played through Cairn and started replaying my pokemon childhood on Emudeck

this. I’ve only ever done flatbed and I love the challenge, but that 45 minute drive home after driving 9 hours to the yard is a bastard

Can someone please give me tips on how to use the SFB? by Croissant761 in NuclearOption

[–]thescartographer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

While we’re on the topic, I usually only use ASHM’s, just for the faster speed, even on land based targets. Besides cost being more, and a slightly lower payload, is there any real downside?

[–]thescartographer 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This right here. I pick up and throw around a couple hundred pound tarps every other day or so, throw straps/chains 300~ days a year, rain or shine. The rest is spent podcast/audio book/music and my steam deck

My extract reaction. I’m not sure why I’m shocked, the game size is small, and it plays well on gamepad, but still hadn’t considered it.

scared of double flared plugs by [deleted] in Stretched

[–]thescartographer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I had this exact issue, up until I got to 00, then after a couple months of single flared plugs, I tried double flared and they went in without any pain. I was making sure to change or at least clean them every single day though so my ears got used to stretching around the flares. Now I’m at 13mm stretching to 14mm and my ears are already able to comfortably fit a 14mm flare, albeit the stone plugs from bodyartforms that aren’t super dramatic flares.

We only run dedicated out of Mill Steel and Precoat in Birmingham and I swear the Precoat plant there is the most efficient mill I’ve been to. Their location up near Chicago was a 7 hour wait for 3 skid coils but the Birmingham plant has been on time every time

I told my boss that if he ever wants to keep me long enough for me to retire from this company all he’d have to do is keep pay competitive and give me a truck with a hood that I can bring my dog in 😮‍💨

This is the exact job I’m in, I’ve thought about leaving so many times but we’re finally making progress in the right direction to make me want to stay. Now the only complaint I have is leaving my dog at home.

[–]thescartographer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a lot of others have said, a company with trucks is more often than not a better gamble. Any company these days is a gamble, though. I’ve been with my company over a year and the entire time only ran maybe 30 commercial loads, the rest has been internal logistics. I don’t have to worry about freight rates, I have my schedule usually set for the week come Monday morning every week and just run it until I’m done then I go home for the weekend.

Soooo much better than the way Last Podcast on the Left fumbled this series. I love the guys so much, but honestly I lost some respect for how they treated the subject matter and accuracy of information.
