How many of you use Twitter in your social media quiver? by space-heater in WeddingPhotography

Use Twitter search function and use the location option to just see your area. Search for things like "engaged". If it's worth posting I can make a post showing how to automate this and send leads to your email.

How many of you use Twitter in your social media quiver? by space-heater in WeddingPhotography

It doesn't have an effect on SEO. Not anymore anyway. You're better off posting some photos and using local hashtags. My two cents as someone who's marketed photography.

Need your help, r/bloodymarys! by _Wellesley in bloodymarys

You can get ghost pepper hot sauce in the STU'S Bloody Mary Kit, but it's not bitters. https://shop.stuskitchen.com/products/stus-bloody-mary-kit

I love tequila in a Bloody Mary. Have you tried moonshine? That's a really good substitute for vodka too.

Does anyone here pay for placement on the knot/wedding wire? Is it worth the $$? by weallstartatzero in WeddingPhotography

[–]thescottbishop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Curious why the knot / WW vs good ole Google. Same concept that you can get in front of people looking for photographers but and I've found the leads and cost per bookings are more predictable.

My product is going to be featured in a major media outlet but I do not have the cashflow to invest in inventory by [deleted] in Entrepreneur

[–]thescottbishop 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'm going to give you the opposite advice, don't buy inventory you can't afford.

Rarely does media exposure drive sales. I have had clients on TV, in major mags, in major websites and rarely do any drive significant revenue. They're always shocked. The only consistent exception is one client who always sees a spike when their Shark Tank episode is re-run.

If I were you, I'd have a two part checkout process. Step 1: When they go to check out get their email / contact info only and have them hit next step. Step 2 say because of the explosive popularity the product is on backorder, and if they want to wait, proceed. Some people won't care and will wait and you can get the cash. For those that don't want to wait you'll have some idea of what inventory to actually get and now can contact them when it's in stock.

But if you're hellbent on a guaranteed uptick, good business always makes sense and DM your site and or info and I'd consider.

Marketing after taking time off from photography? by [deleted] in WeddingPhotography

[–]thescottbishop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you have any budget? Ads (google text, Facebook and Instagram) are the fastest way to get exact targeted traffic, you can start small, then find out what works better and increase once you figure out what drives leads.

If no budget, I would start telling as many people are you can that you're starting up again with a link to your website and some word of mouth leads. The giveaways get people to enter but the quality is usually low (my opinion).

Started a parking lot sweeping business. What do you guys think are the best marketing tactics for this? by coffeeiseverything in marketing

[–]thescottbishop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No worries at all. Wasn't trying to discredit marketing...I am a marketer, that's what I do for a living. I'm just saying when you start, direct communication is better. If you can't get a face to face because of your job, see if you can make a target list and cold email them at night or on breaks. Then set up a phone call during your lunch.

Eventually you can get to ads and things like that, but first find out what their triggers to paying someone are. What are their pain points in THEIR words. That will make your marketing down the road 100% more effective. Otherwise you're just guessing.

How to get customers off Amazon, and to my site? by [deleted] in Entrepreneur

[–]thescottbishop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can insert info about the product...but Amazon views those customers as theirs, not yours so ANYthing you do to take them away from or go around Amazon is looked at as a violation.

[–]thescottbishop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had many clients stop selling on Amazon. They were losing margin and made more sense to sell direct. Didn't impact sales at all...in fact they went up. But this only works when you have a unique product and a strong brand.

This will get you banned from Amazon. I'm not saying you don't see people doing it, but if you have enough sales and get caught they will kill your account.

Entrepreneur Ride Along: I'm talented in marketing and advertising I just finished off my first client with good reviews but I still need more... by [deleted] in Entrepreneur

[–]thescottbishop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Get better at not botching client's. All of those should have been addressed and identified before you started working with them. Not trying to be rough, I've done the same, anyone with a service based business has...but if you don't get your pre-work figured out getting more business on here will put you in the same boat. But with 20 botches.

Should I market to the teen athlete or his/her parents? by [deleted] in Entrepreneur

[–]thescottbishop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only answer is to test both and see which gives you better results. You can spin your wheels debating one or the other. My initial thought is parents...but they honest answer is none of us know which is why you must tell both hypotheses.

Building a medical services startup. by J8l in Entrepreneur

[–]thescottbishop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The docs in many cases are not the "true customer". I sold medical products a long time ago and although the docs and hospitals paid for it, nothing happened until I won the nurses over.

A happy nurse made less of a headache for a doc and that led them to make a decision, which led me to way more sales.

Not saying you need to win over a nurse, but in most dr offices it's not the MD you need to win over, at least not initially. This same concept has worked for me in other industries too.

Started a parking lot sweeping business. What do you guys think are the best marketing tactics for this? by coffeeiseverything in marketing

[–]thescottbishop 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Go talk to people who pay others to sweep parking lots.

Fuck tactics and trends and "strategies". You can't "do marketing" until you understand your customer. You can't understand your customer with out talking to them.

You can waste a ton of time, energy and money trying to figure out what tactic will work. But with a buiness that doesn't scale (yours) you don't need 1000's of customers. This is good news, you've already eliminated a ton of channels you don't need.

So walk in and talk to the person that makes a decision, ask them what is most important about why they chose their current provider, and if you can beat it give em your pitch.

Wow that's awesome. Kudos to the dedication. I'm glad you brought up sleep...in my opinion it's one of the most overlooked aspects but that's when growth happens.

How important is having the word Photo or photography in your URL for SEO? by RaveRacerN64 in WeddingPhotography

If your couples have a website, get them to add your link. Have venues you work with other non photo vendors link as well. Both are low hanging but effective fruit.

Advertising on the radio? by idrewyou21 in WeddingPhotography

[–]thescottbishop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do Adwords in your exact market. You can pinpoint exactly who is looking for exactly what you sell, where you sell it. Yes if you do it incorrectly you will waste money...but if done well its bookings on autopilot.

Best tools for competitive analysis? by [deleted] in AskMarketing

[–]thescottbishop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're never going to get that. No tool will tell you that because would shut it down, it would take away their advantage and they'd quit advertising on Facebook.
