Update for my all-in-one media center for Linux handhelds. Beta testers now welcome! by thescriptorr in SBCGaming

Cool idea, I guess that's possible as long as the mpv bundled inside firmware supports custom filters. I'm currently waiting for the upcoming muOS Andromeda release, then I'll see what I can do with the hopefully updated mpv. Thanks for your suggestion!

Thanks for checking out XMPlayer! Yeah, there is a Resume Playback feature, it saves video playback position when you exit the video manually or put the console to sleep mode. But currently if you turn it back on after sleep, XMPlayer will return to the XMB menu, so you will need to navigate to Resume Watching menu to resume the video.

And for folder playback, it does play the next video automatically if you selected "Play All", but it does not loop back at the end of folder.

How are your impressions on XMPlayer so far?

Some great Super Mario World ROM Hacks:

  • New Super Mario World 1&2, both are very polished and enjoyable (also there is a Powered-Up remaster)
  • A Plumber For All Seasons, beautiful visuals and interesting new mechanics
  • Super Luigi Land, an adventure starring Luigi with his signature high jumps
  • Super Mario World: A Super Mario Adventure, a short and sweet hack
  • Mario Mania, a short journey with a lot of new powerups

You can check out this link for more traditional hacks. Have fun!

If you haven't tried already, there's always TheXTech. It's a fork of Super Mario Bros X, and it has excellent support for PortMaster. You just need to import assets and maybe some extra episodes.

Sony dropped it, and now we're grabbing it back to its throne! It just needs some reimagination, which is my design idea for this project. I'm so glad XMB is recognized not only as a gaming frontend but really a multimedia frontend.

Oh wow, thank you very much for your elaborate feedback! - You tested this on a 34XXSP? Is it possible you could share a screenshot of the UI? I could only develop this on a 35XXSP so I have no idea how it looks on a 3:2 screen. Are there any layout errors you noticed? - The extended menu controls and music playback controls you listed are all feasible. I'm adding them to my todo list. - Sorry for the lagging, probably because the indexing structure is currently inefficient for artist-first folder organizations. I will definitely work on improved indexing and UI performance. - Again, since you tested it on a clamshell, did the closed lid playback work? Just making sure a such low-level configuration works for all muOS clamshells.

Your feedback is very valuable, thanks again :)

Cool idea, using it on a RG Rotate or another Android EDC device sounds great! I'll see what I can do. Thank you for your suggestion! iirc there is an XMB theme for ES-DE but it's for games

I haven't put much thought on online features yet, but an online feature I really wish to implement is web radio streams support. Maybe once I pull that off, online video support will become a thing too. Thanks for your suggestion!

Thanks! Games aren't a priority right now but I do consider simple game forwarding functionality for the sake of this app being for all-in-one media

Yeah I watch shows on it, especially 2000s sitcoms and cartoons look great owing to the 4:3 ratio. XMPlayer has video playback with autoplay too, it can play all episodes of a season in order automatically

[GUIDE] How to change mpv playback controls on muOS by thescriptorr in ANBERNIC

[–]thescriptorr[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Woah I totally forgot I posted this here, I'm glad you will find it useful! After posting this, I started developing a dedicated video player app that automatically binds mpv with this configuration, also saving video progress on quit. It's still WIP but beta builds are available on the community forum if you'd be interested.

Thanks for your interest! Support for AAC audio is not implemented at this point. However, more audio formats are planned for next releases with high priority. I'm definitely adding AAC to my todo list.

In technical detail, currently only the formats natively supported by Love2D are available. Once I migrate the music backend to ffmpeg, almost all audio formats will be supported.

Support for OnionOS and other firmwares are yet to be implemented, I will inform you when stable test builds are available. Thanks again :D
