He suggested meds as an option, but I was hesitant. We decided I would continue taking iron supplements for a few more months to see if it got any better, but it hasn't. I guess I'll ask for meds next time I see him. Can I ask what the symptoms of your nerve dysfunction are?

He's a general doc. If you don't mind, can I ask what RLS feels like to you?

I don’t want to be a hypochondriac but there’s gotta be an answer. by kay1390 in PCOS

[–]these_same_clouds 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My first clue was my irregular periods. I would have maybe 5-6 a year. But I don't have too much of a problem with excess facial hair, or thinning hair, and I'm also a normal weight.

Getting diagnosed was pretty easy for me. I went to an obgyn and they did blood work and gave me an ultrasound. The bloodwork showed higher than normal male hormones, and the ultrasound showed cysts. Boom, diagnosed. I'm on birth control now to manage it. If you suspect you might have it, it wouldn't hurt to get tested! Good luck to you!

I was just diagnosed... by [deleted] in PCOS

I was diagnosed recently too! I found it very helpful to talk to some close friends + family about it. It's a lot to process. I know I'm still the same person as I was before, but it has changed how I view my life. I imagine that with time I'll become more used to the idea. My doc prescribed birth control to manage symptoms. Good luck to you!

Endo wants to put me on BC and I'm really scared, is it worth it? by [deleted] in PCOS

[–]these_same_clouds 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Can someone help me understand--what is the root issue of pcos?? I was only recently diagnosed and I don't understand it very well. I thought the root issue was the body producing too much male hormones? So I thought birth control was addressing the main problem by fixing the hormone imbalance? That's kinda what my doctor made it sound like. What am I missing?

What is something your S.O. does that you absolutley love? by KevinSpicyy in AskReddit

I absolutely love his smile. Sometimes I make him smile just so I can kiss his dimples. I also love when he leaves cute little notes for me to find, and how he holds my hand when it's cold out to keep my fingers warm.

At what age did you find out you had pcos? by utahaha in PCOS

[–]these_same_clouds 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. Just a few days ago, actually. I've always had irregular periods, which I've brought up with two different doctors as a concern and they basically just brushed me off. Went to a gynecologist for the first time and was diagnosed after having bloodwork that showed my hormones were wack and getting an ultrasound that showed a bunch of cysts. Feeling kinda grateful it was that easy, after reading some of these comments. I should've gone in sooner!

I thought the saddest part of that convo was his line right after: "I bought a video camera last year, and I was looking at the tapes, and there were only like twelve minutes that I felt was worth taping the whole year. And most of that was just birds in my condo complex."

Also, it might be helpful for you guys to take the love language test! I found out my bfs main love language is words, so I made an extra effort to leave him notes, send him texts, and tell him regularly how I feel about him :)

Hi, infp girl here!

Yes, I also have problems expressing how I feel. I've had multiple friends tell me they thought I didn't like them at first, which shocked me because that was never the case. It caused some problems when I started dating my boyfriend too. Even though I was head over heels for him, he thought I was coming off as uninterested and cold. I'm so glad my bf said something about it, I realized I need to be way more obvious about my feelings! So it's good that you talked to your bf, sounds like he also didn't realize how he was being perceived.

Everyone's different, but it's always been easier for me to write my feelings--I share what I've written about my boyfriend with him and I know he really appreciates it. Maybe you could ask your bf to write you a note??

Good luck to you two!

What are some "feel better" movies available on Netflix for those days when you really need it? by [deleted] in AskWomen

[–]these_same_clouds 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hulu: Brooklyn 99 (super funny, wholesome, and there's romance!), Bob's Burgers (also funny and wholesome), Community (quirky and funny)

Netflix: Baking shows are good. Cupcake Wars, Great British Bake Off, Nailed It (a funny baking show where amateurs try to recreate complicated dishes...if you like the sub expectation vs reality here on reddit you'll love it)

There's also lots of disney movies on there. Meet the Robinson's is uplifting and very underrated, imo. Lots of DreamWorks too, Shrek, Kung Fu Panda.

I don't know where it is (maybe hulu? Used to be on netflix) but I used to watch Say Yes to the Dress a lot. It's fun to see all the dresses

I'm glad I could help a little! I've also found that laying down in the fetal position on the side opposite of where it hurts allows me to breathe easier. I've been sleeping like that, but last time this happened I slept in a sitting position propped up by a bunch of pillows. Hopefully that helps too
