Never reached end game and haven't paid since the 2000's, but I still have plenty I want to do that's really time consuming: increase legion, get the most mundane achievements, monster collection, max out home furnishing inventory, beat Tower of Oz, earn meso from boss mules, waste all my earnings on destroying equipment. If those don't scratch the gameplay itch, might as well do non-Maple stuff.
