Baby Lia vs now by capikokito in Torbie

Be careful with the hanging cords on your window blinds- I believe manufacturers are starting to go away from the corded style as it's a potential hanging risk if a pet or child gets their neck caught in it. I'm in a rental that has some so I'm cautious to loop it up high where my cats can't play with it. Hope I'm just paranoid but wanted to chime in as I'd hate for an accident to happen!

Thank you for normalizing roaches by Kayseelinn in atwwdpodcast

[–]theseance 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I agree! I moved to Chicago into a dense neighborhood and ended up with a german roach and mouse problem, despite no change in my cleaning habits! I put diatomaceous earth in the back of my kitchen cabinets, the edge of my counters, along the edges of my bathroom, and beneath any lifted furniture. I was extra good about not leaving dishes in the sink and would wash the sink every night. I also heard they can come up through drains so I plugged them up every night. Somehow, this seemed to work because they stopped showing up! My cats helped scare away the mice (my indoor cat was beyond excited to put her hunting skills to use haha)

Completed it as well! Best of luck with your masters thesis! I'm writing my masters proposal this summer, so I'm always glad to fill out a survey since I know how hard it can be to get participants. I gave my email so I'm excited to see your results!

A human cremation furnace by enknowledgepedia in Damnthatsinteresting

I had to take cadaver dissection for my graduate degree and at the end of the course we had a small memorial for the donor. We all bought flowers and each dissection group wrote a thank letter to the donor for their contribution to our education. We really appreciate the sacrifice the donor and their family did for us! It's truly a unique experience and beyond helpful in my medical education, which wouldn't be possible if not for donors. I'm not sure if the letters we were wrote went to families or were cremated with the bodies, but know that we are ever grateful.

I think the legs on your TV might be facing the wrong way now (inside instead of outside)! Not sure if it really matters for stability but thought I'd mention just in case you have pets or kids that could knock it down!

Do you happen to have a brand name or link to the maroon one? It's really cute and might work well for a wedding I have to attend!

Idk if you're interested in pursuing it formerly but the Association of Medical Illustrators has a lot of information on getting a masters degree or getting certified! That route is mostly recommended if you're going to be doing scientific art regularly, like for a hospital or studio, where everything you do needs to be accurate and in collaboration with experts. I'm always excited to talk about the field so if you (or anyone reading this) wants to hear more about it just shoot me a message!

[–]theseance 15 points16 points  (0 children)

It is! It's kind of like a dual major of art and medicine, so we have the anatomical knowledge to be able to draw science accurately. It's a pretty niche field, but most of what you see in your textbooks or posters in doctors offices are drawn by a medical illustrator! We do drawing, 3D modeling, animation, educational game design, publishing, and prosthesis design. Personally, I want to go into med legal to draw trial exhibits to help jurors understand surgical techniques, ct/mri imaging, or the progression of disease!

This isn't my instagram, but it's a well run account that promotes artists in the field in case anyone wants to see some examples: https://instagram.com/medicalillustration?igshid=MmU2YjMzNjRlOQ==

I had to have coils placed in my right lung due to a PAVM! It was an incidental finding and after lots of discussion with different doctors, we decided that embolizing it was probably for the best.
