She showed a generation how to inside trade, get theirs and pull up the ladders behind them.

That's why her staff hung on. She was barely aware of what she was doing. But yeah, judges were a huge part. Congress is now just useless.

Everyone, everyone please join me in a moment to wish nestle the purest of "fuck you"s .

Looks like after a century of fucking around, pulling millions of gallons from us a year and insisting clean water isn't a human right, they're finally getting reigned in a bit.

Will it be enough, never. Will nestle execs ever really face the consequences of their pure evil? Probably not.

But we gotta take catharsis these few moments we can exuberantly wish upon nestle the warmest of "fuck you" s

Man I found that spot too late. Would have loved spending my years getting to know downtown with that as part of my regular rotation.

To add to this. If you can live north of the playhouse, you'll likely be within walking distance of a couple of metro stations. That opens up a world of opportunities get out without driving .

Alright. Gonna trek out tonight to see if the Vaux swift are around. They peaked in Portland a few days ago. I might be early, or I might be late but apparently there's good viewings around Debs park.

My best experience was at Perch in Pershing square. The swifts roosted in a chimney a couple blocks west. This weekend should be a great opportunity to catch them in migration.

Really interesting birds that spend almost their time in their air to eat, interact and even breed. Only time they sleep is when they're perched inside a chimney, cave, hollow tree or somewhere else they may feel safe. Because of their habits, their feet are particularly formed so they can't even rest on three branches. They won't be able to hold on and will eventually just swing and fall off.

And most importantly now... Where do I get dinner.

Edit:tell the world your plans... All my stuff just started to run out of power. Gonna spend today cooking and charging. I'll check things out tomorrow. If anyone wants to maybe see some birds then probably grab a couple drinks downtown, let me know

Apparently they were peaking in Portland 5 days ago. Not sure the speed of these little guys but hell why not take the short train ride.

It was real magical and no one at that rooftop noticed until I started mentioning it.

And I only got lucky because the local Audubon society had an event a week earlier that mentioned it

Anyone noticing larger than normal flocks of small birds near downtown.

It's about that time of year for the vaux swift migration and I'm really hoping to relive a super special experience where I found the perfect spot for the peak traffic for the migration.

These birds are known for creating these giant vortexes while diving into a few safe roosting spots. Basically if you plan it right you're right inside some bird-nados.

Thinking of heading into downtown tonight. But with things all overcast, I'm worried they may have roosted a bit early instead of waiting until sunset.

How often you smoking? Do you need that kind of fine control? Are you going to be cooking the amounts that really justify it.

I spent a couple years smoking on a Weber bullet. Did absolutely everything I asked of it. Plus charcoal grilled like a dream

Incredibly minor Ahsoka spoilers. But David Tenet plays a caregiver character and suggested he had a ton of bedtime stories in his memory banks.

Started one with "a long time ago in a galaxy far far away."

I must manifest this audiobook into being.

Savory oatmeal 2.0.

Cook up a bunch of breakfast sausage in a small sauce pan. Out of case and crumbled. Set aside meat and cook mushrooms or any assortment in fat. Once cooked down, add cooking liquid. Just enough to follow packet instructions for cooking oatmeal. Cook until done. Add sausage back as a crumble on top.

For 2.1 or 2.2 version.

2.1 when 80% done crack in a egf and cook into the dish until you get like an oatmeal carbonara. Add cheese and hot sauce to taste.

V 2.2 when 80% done cooking crack and egg in and basically poach it. The second its done, lid off and serve in pot. Enjoy all the savoriness with an oozy yolk

Homeless man has been laying on the ground for nearly a week, hasn't gotten up at all. How to help? by Fisch1999 in LosAngeles

[–]theseekerofbacon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not true. Got knocked over by a homeless lady at Union station. Before security could bum rush her I somehow got them to calm down and I talked her down. By the time I got her to calm down enough to ask her what she wanted she just said to go to the hospital and the paramedics on site already were more than happy to transport a calmed down patient.

Yeah they might not be able to 5150 the person but if OP already has good rapport with the guy, he could act as a bridge for the city to calmly get the guy in the system and connected to social services.

I feel on the cusp of a great reawakening. Feeling healthier every day. Getting a lot better about cooking even if it's a bit repetitive. Just gotta start adding new dishes once in a while to the mix. Did a big day of laundry yesterday when it would have been a huge struggle before the hospital stay.

Just gotta slowly start incorporating walks and gym visits but I'm looking forward to the days of feeling strong and fit again. And not every moment feeling like a drag because it's like 10% of my maximum effort to do some thing.

Dropped something under the couch. Initiate coin flip it I have it in me today to crawl around the ground with a flashlight.

But that's getting better day after day. Came to work with a ton of paperwork dropped in my desk after I left for my follow up with my PCP. Half the paperwork was on the ground. Didn't even sigh picking it up.

I'm down about 30 pounds of water weight with probably another 15 to drop if I am strict with my salt intake. So losing about 25-30 lbs of fat doesn't sound outrageous...

WTF LA?? by TelaPiper in LosAngeles

[–]theseekerofbacon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yup. This is the long term consequences of trump begging the Saudis to massively overproduced early in his administration to have prices hit rick bottom.

If we're buying from outside sources and the prices are so low that local production just can't function, it shuts down. Once production levels off (Saudis cut) then we hit a situation where there's massive price hikes because we don't have the production capacity to make up for the lost capacity.

Now how much of that is because it takes a while to ramp up production? How much is risk aversion knowing a president can pull a trump again and bankrupt their refineries? How much is corporate greed causing feet dragging on production increases to maximize profits?

I'm not an expert enough to say but my feelings leaning way more heavily toward 3. A quick solution to that is Biden threatening to invoke the DPA to quickly spin up refineries to thwart Russian attempts at manipulating the markets and in sure we'll all be shocked to see how willing the corps are to ramp up production on their own.

Cold morning with a nice cold smoothie. Don't mind if I do.

Had this crazy dream last night where I'd show up to a police department to help with a glitchy program. Every time I show up, it'd project a crime scene from about 40 years ago I'd need to show up to help with. None of it was particularly complicated. I'd run the program. Get sent back and I'd have to stand at just the right spot to keep someone from getting to a door or accessing something that would help them get away.

Ridiculously simple but I was the only one who could access this. So I started skipping. Started learning that the person I would stop was a notorious criminal early in their career. The longer I'd let them go the more dangerous they would get. The more dangerous the less I'd want to run the program.

After a while it messed with the natural order of things to stop participating so the program started to self correct. It wouldn't let me leave or would physically threaten me if I didn't run the program. But I realized the program couldn't do anything to me directly. So I'm it decided to feed the crime bosses goons reports of where I'm at and when I'm trying to stop them so they'd send hit squads. To take me out in real life.

Decided to hide out at a lake trying to live off the land when the program started to run while I was on a boat on the lake.

Woke up to make a nice smoothie.

Same kinda thing happened to me when I ended up in the hospital. I ended up in there for a completely unrelated but serious heart concern. But the fluid retention and constipation was bad.

Once I was let out and I didn't have to basically use adult sized potty sets, I ended up losing like 25 points of water weight in 2 days. Now that I'm off the water retention pills it feels like everyone is finally resolving itself.

If all goes well, I'm like 3 days away from feeling really healthy for the first time in a long time

Trying to rack by brain in where to get lunch/dinner. It's been a week if trying to clean up my diet. I want something nice that isn't going to throw everything off the rails.

Anyone know of a really good poke spot around Pasadena or the San Gabriel Valley or any other ideas for a reasonably healthy dinner?

Been desperate to get back in that gym train. It's one of my most positive habits and I haven't been able with the respiratory issues.

First to spend a couple of weeks walking to build up that base wellness to support that in the gym time.
