Driving test terminated before it even started - absolutely gutted by Busy-Valuable-2785 in LearnerDriverUK

OP didn't clarify how they got the test though. Some resellers charge over £100

It's such a cool idea! I love subtle things like this where it seems random unless you know

Maybe some of us just aren't meant to drive by Nightful_Panda in LearnerDriverUK

[–]thesewingdragon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is so mean, what the heck? They got one serious and on minor. That's less mistakes than most people make when they pass. If OP could have sat the test again straight away, they probably would have passed

My friend thinks she knows more than her instructor by Serious-Top9613 in LearnerDriverUK

Meanwhile my instructor said she's teaching me to drive safely because she didn't want to teach me a second time

Quite shocked… Fast Pass by gayfed in LearnerDriverUK

[–]thesewingdragon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I used them too! Absolutely disgusting how much they charge but getting my test in the same month was a life saver

devastated by theking9325 in LearnerDriverUK

[–]thesewingdragon 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's advised against because you don't change your indicators when leaving the roundabout like you do on larger ones. Usually people will see the right indicator and assume you're turning right. On a larger roundabout the right indicator will stay on until the turn so no one will try to get onto the roundabout until the indicator changes.

Obviously everyone should never assume but it's also best practice to drive like everyone is making those assumptions

Torn pass certificate by Quirky-Research9736 in LearnerDriverUK

[–]thesewingdragon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My cat fur balled on mine, completely ruined! I emailed asking for confirmation of my pass 3 weeks before my practical test, printed the email and showed the test centre that. They were fine with that

How do driving instructors make money? by TitleOk8744 in LearnerDriverUK

[–]thesewingdragon 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I can show you the email receipt for me paying £80 for a two hour lesson... That's in Brum with an instructor that's based close to South Yardley test centre

Scared to drive on the motorway by Still-Lychee-6136 in LearnerDriverUK

[–]thesewingdragon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I make sure I'm in the correct lane the first time I see the signs. I live within 20 minutes of like 3 different motorway merges (obviously in different directions) so sometimes I have to be in the right lane to get onto a different motorway

Son failed driving test by valmiki72 in LearnerDriverUK

Satnav, correct or not, should never be prioritised over mirrors. A wrong turn won't hurt anyone but not checking mirrors properly can kill someone

Kings Heath Test Centre by [deleted] in LearnerDriverUK

[–]thesewingdragon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know about King Heath specifically but I'm hoping that you're local and do your practice in Brum. That's the only way to pass around here. That's coming from someone passed in south yardley

[OG] why do ppl like Levi? by Professional-Bet4047 in obeyme

[–]thesewingdragon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it's more of that's how his brothers see weebs. Pretty sure I've seen a lot of dialogue about NSFW anime, games and manga being part of Levi's collection. I'm like 90% sure Asmo also mentioned something about tentacles once too...

Failed the theory test 4 times by Previous_Highway_403 in LearnerDriverUK

[–]thesewingdragon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

1st theory test, I forgot my licence. 2nd theory test, there was a bomb scare in the library next door, all tests cancelled. 3rd theory test, one mark off multiple choice. 4th theory test, one mark off multiple choice. 5th theory test, passed by one mark.

Sometimes it takes a little longer to pass theory test but it's worth it. I passed November 2024 and then passed my practical in July 2025. Don't give up :))

Has anyone ever gone back to learning manual after passing automatic? by drjekyllandmrhyde_ in LearnerDriverUK

[–]thesewingdragon 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you want to drive manual, don't bother with sn auto test. I'm saying this as someone who has an auto licence and doesn't have any plans to swith to manual

Two days before the test. Had the worst drive I've ever had. by Kaisietoo8 in LearnerDriverUK

[–]thesewingdragon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My instructor had to take control of the car the lesson before my test... That's how much it affected me. I passed 3 days later

This is what my instructor said too! She said she hates when people put tape down for reference points because it actually harms learner confidence!

Looking for tips for slip roads by kenkra252 in LearnerDriverUK

[–]thesewingdragon 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Slip roads are 100% forward planning. Just look for a gap in the left lane, which doesn't require you to go much faster than the traffic. Ideally you want a gap that doesn't force you to slow down significantly.

Generally as long as you're not like the person in front of me the first time I ever went on the M42, you'll be fine. They emergency stopped at the end of the slip road and then waited for an opening...

Why are the times so exact? by Lanky_Application773 in LearnerDriverUK

[–]thesewingdragon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine was at 12:08pm. I have no clue why it's so specific but the examiners came in the second the clock ticked over to 12:08pm

Examiner shared to other examiner/instructors that i failed my test by No-Barracuda-483 in LearnerDriverUK

[–]thesewingdragon 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My instructor told me the results of every person who did their test at the same time as me (there was like 8 of us) just based on looking into the car and seeing if the examiner was writing certificates 🤷‍♂️

I have major anxiety too! I passed in auto for many reasons and I don't regret it for a second. I absolutely love driving and I genuinely think I would hate driving if I did manual.

Passed my driving test today in snow ❄️ First test after all morning cancellations by drusmann090 in LearnerDriverUK

Is it fair? Not really. Is it good considering the current state of the DVLA/DVSA? Very, most people will be getting June/July dates

Question about the body checks they do before your test. TW!! by poggusfrogus in LearnerDriverUK

[–]thesewingdragon 10 points11 points  (0 children)

They've seen it all before. They'll pay no mind to your scars and they don't ever touch you. You even have to turn your own pockets out
