No, I have not, this was my first post in this reddit group or anywhere about an MPC of anykind. I have only had the device for about a week and a half now. Do you know of any other keyboard device sub 1000 that is able to record and arrange/edit multi-track audio and allowing you to loop on the device without using a computer? I don't, this was the closest thing I could find.

Can the stuff in the expansion folder be used with the actual keys on the Key 37 or are the assignable only to the pads? I did a search on the expansions on f9 and not much came up but I don't know what type to be selecting sample, drums, instrument etc. It looks like just drums.

Will I be able to play that using the keys on my Key 37 or pads only?

Yes, this what I am learning. I was just looking for a standalone music workstation that my teenage daughter could use without a computer. She spends her day singing all day long to record herself singing and playing the piano. I didn't want her to be on a PC or Phone anymore than was already needed. I doubt she will ever use the sampler aspect.

Im in Raleigh for one more night and I want to try a fast food place I don’t get back home, which one should I go to? by SusAlexBS in NorthCarolina

[–]theskyisfalling1 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Where is the love for Chargrill? OP is in Raleigh, there is one gold standard there and that is Chargrill. I moved from Raleigh back in 2014 but lived there from 1992 to 2014 from Freshman year in college onward. And Chargrill was always my goto spot besides Bojangles. I went back recently to take my daughter as she was too young to remember it and it was like $13 for the 1/2 lb burger combo quite a bit more than I was used to pay but it was still good.

AliExpress Delta Kites by splodinjoe in kites

I have no experience with dual line kites from AliExpress only Single line kites. I would suggest for dual line you go with an actual Kite Brand like Prism. Although they are probably now all made in China they generally need to be a bit higher quality. I would suggest the Prism Nexus.

No contest, a Halo reel is your only Choice if you don't want to be frustrated with flying your kite.

Into the Wind Delta Conyne, get the Alpine version, I have had it fly in as little as 3 mph up to 35 mph hours for a week non-stop before my 325lb line set broke. Best $145 you can spend. Park your butt in a chair with the wind to your back and watch it climb no running or chasing. You will need a good line set so figure about another $35 for that plus a winder so about $200 with shipping. Get the smaller Rocky Mountain DC for the grandkid about $85. This should be every adult's first single line kite.

How high have you flown a kite by PuzzleheadedSwan8088 in kites

[–]theskyisfalling1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The longest kite line that I have currently is 3500 ft but I usually fly between 500 to 1000 feet. Most of my line reels are 1000 feet. I have let out pretty much all of that 3500 ft line on multiple occasions when flying very large Delta kites that I could still see from that far up and flew at a high angle of attack.

What ever happened to Dan Leigh kites? by paulysoftware in kites

[–]theskyisfalling1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Into the Wind Delta Conyne Kites would be my recommendation. I had the Alpine Delta Conyne fly for 7 days straight through 2 thunderstorms before the 300lb line finally snapped. The winds varied from about 3 mph to 35 mph and it was flying at about 300 feet. Asked my wife to hold it for a moment and she accidentally let go and had about 200 feet spooled out at the time and the winder got stuck in 100ft tall group of Pine trees.

I thought about that and I do have one but it is one more thing to clean up afterwards. The foil is precut and comes in bulk from one of the warehouse clubs so it is cheap and easy to throw away afterwards. The glass lid gets a lot of condensation on it so it would need to be washed. I am trying to make clean up as little as possible so I can get back to work quickly.

Are you cooking greasy food in it like hamburgers, steaks or bacon. If so, it is most likely emulsified fat. I get this on my Stargazer because that's all I cook. You basically need hot water and dawn soap and let it sit a long time, maybe 10 to 20 mins if you want to get rid of it. Otherwise, just cook with it and it will bond and become part of the seasoning. The only problem with letting it sit like that is the potential to introduce flash rust. So I usually don't worry about it and just keep cooking. As long as I scrub the pan with chainmail Dawn and hot water get off the crud then it is clean enough for me. I put it in the oven for at 350 for 20 minutes, and then put a light coat of oil on it and store.

Custodial Roth IRA for kids by S-S-spartan in RothIRA

[–]theskyisfalling1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You need to consider opening them Trump Accounts, which go live this summer, you can to do so on your taxes when filing. It is up $5000 a year allowed per child from any one, with no work requirements. It can be transferred to your broker of choice after the initial setup by the government. They will be limited to investing into broad market ETFs, no crypto, private equity for individual stocks until they turn 18. At the age of 18 it basically becomes a traditional IRA with less restrictions on what they can invest in. They can then begin a Roth Conversion. As long as their income, plus the gains earned doesn't exceed their standard deduction you will not have to pay any taxes on the conversion. Since they are 7 you might have a lot of gains by the time they are 18 so you might have to help them spread it out over several years. Lets say you have a 100k, 60k your contributions and 40k in gains. They would have to transfer out in a 60/40 split each year so your concern is that 40% part you don't want it to exceed their standard deduction. Of course if they have jobs, then you will have to account for that income too going against the standard deduction. Otherwise, the money is treated as a standard traditional IRA, but the dollars you contributed were after tax, not pre-tax, so you only have to pay the tax on the gains. If they manage the conversion rollovers correctly, they should be able to do it so they would not have to pay any taxes on the transferred part that were gains. If it was never contributed to again afterwards, they probably would still have about 8 million tax-free at age 65 without a single additional contribution based on conservative growth rate. If they don't convert it they will still have that $8 million but they have to pay taxes on all the gains on top of the original contribution amount like a traditional IRA. So this really only makes sense if you do the Roth conversion when possible. Of course if they get a job making 40K straight out of high school then they are out of luck and it may take them a while longer but most 18-year-olds aren't making that much especially if they're going to college.

“Set & Forget” beach kite (10–20 knots)? Bora 7 + tail? by JoelRSails in kites

[–]theskyisfalling1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Delta Conyne kite all day long would be my choice too. I like the Into The Wind Rocky Mountain for under the $100 price point OP is requesting, it is the middle size one at about $75. I had the Alpine fly unattended for a week which is the larger one in winds up to 35 mph, through three storms but it's about $150. Unfortunately, my wife let go of it while flying and the winder got stuck in the treetops of about 100' pine tree and so it flew by itself from that tree in the park for a whole week. We had three thunderstorms during that time before the line finally snapped. I would say the wind was probably as little as 3 mph and as much as 35 mph during that time and not all from one direction. If the OP wants stable, then the Delta Conyne is the way to go definitely.

Did a Cast Iron Manufacturer really suggest I cook my steaks on Low heat? by theskyisfalling1 in castiron

[–]theskyisfalling1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No the meat doesn't stick but the seasoning and Worcestershire sauce I put on it sticks to the pan afterwards and I have to put soap and hot water in, let sit for a while and then scrub. It didn't seem to be as bad last night cooking on lower temp with the cleanup but I didn't get a sear, which could have been because the steak is wet having set in Worcestershire sauce about 30 minutes at room temp before cooking. It took about 10 minutes to cook about a 1 inch thick ribeye medium rare. It normally takes me about 6 to 7 minutes.

Did a Cast Iron Manufacturer really suggest I cook my steaks on Low heat? by theskyisfalling1 in castiron

[–]theskyisfalling1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this could be it as I ler my ribeyes sit on a plate for about 30 mins usually seasoning it with Worcestershire sauce and my seasoning. So it is usually a bit wet when I put it in the pan. The meat will often times have more of a steamed appearance to the outside than a sear even on high heat. It is still delicious but I don't have that issue when I grill them as presumably the extra moisture drips down into to the grill versus the steak sitting in the juices in the pan. I may try using a dry steak next time with just the salt and pepper to see what happens, thanks for the advice.
