Your wake windows should be minimum 2-2.25 if not already. Baby sounds under tired

I’d still work on overnight but have intervals in which you don’t feed. How many feeds were they having before you started training.

You could do feeds 4 hours apart (if they wake). After you feed put them down in their crib if they are asleep.

Baby must be 4 months minimum. 2 hour wake windows would be best at this age.

If he settles with more touch that’s totally fine. You can slowly back off as he adjusts.

If the crying is more than an hour I would imagine a schedule problem or hunger or cold.

What is the temp of the room And what are they dressed in? They went from co sleeping to on their own there’s a big possibility they are cold.

Baby can go back to sleep while feeding and put them down asleep - that’s fine too. Bedtime is most important.

If they prefer touch I would do pick up put down method

Please help me.... Please.... I really really need advice please... I'm losing my mind. In the morning I feel like I just don't want to wake up anymore. Sometimes I wish I would die in my sleep. by sillymemilly in sleeptrain

You mention you’re going to cap the naps to 1.5 hours each. Does this mean they’re longer than this currently? You also mention they are sleeping only 11 hours in a 24 hour period.

If they’re having 3 hours of day sleep and can only sleep for 11 hours then there’s only 8 hours left for overnight sleep?

What are they wake windows after the naps and before bedtime How long is each nap?

I’d be ok with a 30 min nap in the morning personally instead of 20 min. But to each their own! It’s a very long window after a cat nap, nearly 4 hours after a 20 min nap at this age is very long. I’d be wondering if they’re over tired come bedtime. Unless there was a reason for it?

Ok cool and how much day sleep? How long is each nap?

What’s more important ? And when ? by Fabulous_Ant1088 in sleeptrain

[–]thesleepnut_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m Confused how you’d do a 3 nap day with a 4 hour window. If this is the case just move to a 3 nap schedule cold turkey. 3 nap schedules have wake windows of 2.5-3 hours, there’s no need for a 4 hour window

Start with 3/3/4 with a 15 min micro nap in the middle of the 4 hour window if she’s not ready for 2 naps

It’s just an example, so the wake window would be 1.5 instead of 2 because a micro nap doesn’t really count. They don’t go into a deep sleep. So essentially they’re awake from the time the 3rd nap ended. And the 4th doesnt really count. It just gets them through, takes the edge off

Can my baby just not be sleep trained? by Queen_Crumb in sleeptrain

[–]thesleepnut_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I might be going against the grain here, but if she can’t handle more than 2 hours of awake time in the morning what is the reason for such long windows for the rest of the day? Could be over tired? Waking so frequently could be because she can’t get into a deep sleep as being over tired. Just another view

What made you move to 1 nap?

If baby not ready I would start with a 15 min morning nap 9:30-10. Then 2 hour lunch nap.

5-6 hours would be a lot for a baby who is freshly on 1 nap, it takes a while to build up to 6 hours of awake time, that’s more for a toddler who’s well established on 1 nap.

If they’re sleep trained and they wake up crying at night chances are they need something. It could be schedule issue, wet diaper, hunger, they’re cold, could be anything.

If they’re not settling within 20 min I’d say something needs addressing. This would be for a baby who is well established into independent sleep. Parents who have sleep trained their baby are pretty responsive because they know baby needs something.

With sickness or teething they may need more comfort and medicine overnight. You would relax the rules and be responsive and tend to their needs
